Most countries (there are some exceptions) require that your passport be valid for at least 6 months past your scheduled return to the U.S. If your passport does not meet this requirement, you must apply for a passport renewal. When leaving the United States, CIBT always recommends that you have a passport, regardless of your destination, which is also the recommendation of the U.S. State Department.

The passport is valid for ten (10) years if you are 16 years of age or older. The passport is valid for five (5) years if you are 15 years of age or younger.

You may apply to have extra pages added to the passport. Alternatively if your passport will expire shortly you may apply to renew it. If you are a frequent traveler, you may request a 48-page passport in writing with your application. There is no additional fee for this service. You may travel to the United States on a valid visa in an expired passport as long as all the biographic information on your visa (name, date of birth, nationality, etc.) matches the same information on your new passport. Ensure that the visa has not been hole-punched or damaged in any other way.

Most countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond the completion of your trip. If your passport expires before the required validity, you must apply for a passport renewal. In order to get a visa, most countries require that your passport be valid for at least 6 months past your scheduled return to the U.S. If you are getting a multiple entry visa, and your passport is set to expire soon, you might consider getting your passport renewed first, since most visas in your passport are no longer valid once your passport has expired.

If you can keep your old passport with you, you do not need a new visa. Take the old passport with the valid visa and new passport together as your international ID.

If possible, you should renew your passport approximately nine (9) months before it expires. Some countries require that your passport be valid at least six (6) months beyond the dates of your trip. The passport must have at least six (6) months validity left before expiration and at least one blank page left in it for visa stamp.

Processing times have recently been revised again. However, the U.S. Department of State's best advice is still "Apply Early and Be Patient". CHCBL mails all completed passport applications once a day using standard rate mail. However, if you wish to have your application materials sent by overnight delivery to and from the passport processing center, there will be additional charges of $16.25 paid to CHCBL for sending applications overnight and $16.25 per applicant paid to the U.S.

Membership is valid for one year from the date your initial membership application was received. Within 30 days of the expiration of your membership, you will receive a written request for renewal. If we do not receive a request to suspend Passport Premiere access, your membership will automatically be renewed at the prevailing annual membership fee as of the anniversary date of the membership. The renewal membership fee will be settled to the credit card account on file.
