In the tool panel of the TrackerCam Program, there is a heading labeled [Tracking]. Under that, click the first icon (of a target box). A window titled [TrackerCam: Surveillance and viewpoint settings] will appear. Select the [Playback] tab and click on [Surveillance viewer]. Click on browse and select the file you wish to view and then click on show once you are done to view the specified file.

Unlike most systems with video motion detection, SuperSleuth Wise can be used outdoors. The detection is immune to weather changes like rain and clouds, but not moving objects like cardboard blowing in the wind, moving shadows of trees, lightning, etc. No. SuperSleuth Wise is a stand-alone product. Video Motion Detection (VMD) is a simple technology. But VMD is almost useless in busy environments. It's limited outside or near windows due to wind, trees and lighting. It's OK if you just want to watch mainly empty corridors or single hot-spots. It's not a suitable basis for a learning system. And it raises far too many false alerts. Whereas with iSentry, users actually enjoy watching all the day's highlights in just 10-15 minutes.

VMD stands for Video Motion Detection. This is a capability found on many mid to high end VCRs. Basically all this does is have the unit only record when motion is detected. It is illogical to record hours upon endless hours of footage, not regarding the fact of whether anything is actually happening or not. VMD saves you time and effort required to watch hours of footage looking for something that happened, instead of only recording what did.

There is a 20x15 grid for defining motion detection areas per channel (300 pixel areas within each picture) and highly accurate with sensitivity controls.

The system supports motion detection separately for each channel. You need to define the area by choosing which segments of the grid to include. This can be done remotely using a mouse faster than by using the buttons on the front of the unit. You can sample the current motion to determine the sensitivity threshold and thus prevent many false alarms.

The general principle is by taking sequential pictures and then comparing differences. No difference means no movement. Depending on how much change there has been, the camera or associated software cad decide that there has been movement. There is sensitivity control to minimise false alarms, mask out areas that will always move etc. The process repeats with the latest picture being compared to the one before.

TrackerCam 4.1 (and higher) not only captures video when motion occurs, it actually locks on to whatever moved and follows it with the TrackerPod/PowerPod while capturing. Special features include:

Drawing GUI on top of the video doesn't flicker. This enables on-screen displays to be drawn over the live TV images. It can work in Direct3D exclusive mode which means the entire machine is set to fullscreen and no background application are allowed access to the video hardware. Under Direct3D Exclusive Mode, less CPU is required to play videos and depending on the resolution of the video, playback may be smoother. Exclusive mode is also required to stop tearing. No.

Public Video Surveillance refers to video surveillance performed by public bodies in public spaces (streets, parks, etc). This is to be distinguished from video surveillance on private property (for example, shopping malls) and video surveillance by public authorities in quasi-private spaces (for example, government buildings).

Public video surveillance has several stated purposes. First, the mere presence of cameras is meant to deter crime by reminding would-be criminals that they are under surveillance. Visible cameras are also meant to cultivate peace-of-mind on the part of the public. General street surveillance has not been found to have a significant crime-reduction effect, although footage has been useful, both as a means of catching criminals and as evidence in subsequent proceedings.

Since we don't know the specific manufacturer of your surveillance system, we asl that you consult your user's manual or installation company for instructions on how to search recorded video. Motion detection events are triggered by the percent-changed in File / Preferences / Image / Video (see http://www.surveyor.com/support/webcam32help/video_settings.html) For percent-change trigger of Local Save, if the Image Compare option in the Capture / Local Save menu is enabled, then local save will only occur when the percent-changed is exceeded. For FTP, look at the Advanced menu, and select "Use %Change" - FTP will only occur when percent-change is exceeded.

To activate the new motion tracking feature, click and hold the [Track] button in the TrackerCam program, and a menu should appear. Select the [Motion] option and the menu should dissappear. If you wish to double check if the motion option is enabled, click and hold on the [Track] and the menu should appear again. The option [Motion] should now have a * beside it, which signifies that it has been selected.

On most machines, an Apple feature called DirectDraw affects the QuickTime display. Video playback on secondary monitors for some systems may play better with this on, and others with it off. You should experiment with these settings to see which one works best for your system. To get to these QuickTime settings: If you still experience jumpy playback, try setting QuickTime to Safe Mode from the same Preference dialog.

Video and VR playback takes quite a bit of computer power. Try clicking on the square video resize button in the upper right-hand corner. This will make the playback window smaller and thus smoother in playback.

For a 56k modem user make sure to choose low bandwidth under the media setting. For cable modem, dsl, or faster connection you can choose low or high bandwidth. The media setting is located directly under the movie window and may be changed at any time. Your current setting is saved to your account each time you adjust the setting.
