older PPC laptops with DB-15 connectors (there should be a small gray adapter in the bag with the projector that says "NEC multisync" on it) even older laptops (500 series, 5300) with the VDI output (there's a longer grey adapter cable in the bag as well)

For the really old Mac laptops, you'll have to grab the adapter from the Epson bag, and use it along with the dipswitch adapter.

Generally, yes. The LitePro has a converter box which will accept a signal from either VGA (labelled "PC") or the older Mac monitor connect (HD-15). You need to dial the circular converter appropriately. New Macs should just use the "PC" setting. For reasons that escape me entirely, sometimes it works better if you use the mac setting and an HD-15 to VGA converter. Go figure.

This is another example of how a seemingly simple question can spiral down into an ugly set of if/then statements.

If the display from your laptop does not come up on the LCD projector there are a few things to check: middot; Check to be sure the projector is turned on & you have the correct input selected on the projector. (usually computer 1 or data1) middot; Does your screen resolution match the capabilities of the LCD projector? If not, you will need to reduce your screen resolution to the capabilities of the projector. 800x600 for SVGA, 1024x768 for XGA.

The latest generation of Mac notebooks (with Intel Core Duo processor, new in Spring 2006) can be used to take in-class laptop exams because they can run Windows XP Pro via Boot Camp. However, the Law School does not allow the use of older Mac laptops for taking in-class laptop exams. The approved version of Electronic Bluebook (EBB) only works with Windows XP. There is no approved Macintosh version and using the software on a Windows emulator is not permitted.

Students may check out multiple pieces of equipment each check-out, but no more than one piece from each catagory. In other words, a student may have a projector, laptop, digital camera and flatbed scanner, but may not have two laptops at once. To reserve more than one item at a time, just select the items on the same request page.

Material/Building services has laptops (with Windows 98 and Powerpoint) and laptop projectors. Fill up their "AVS MSR" form at www.matserv.ucla.edu. Don't fill in the recharge ID. Do give your course number and professor's name. They should then confirm your order. You can pick up the equipment from their office in Boelter 2685 (entrance from the outside corridor).

Resellers, retailers, dealers and distributors of Epson products and their authorised advertising agencies and other service providers can use the Channel Epson website. Existing Epson channel associates were sent a letter and a Store ID which allows them to register on the site. Which version to use depends on what ROM image you have. If you have all of them then the Mac Plus emulation is probably preferable. There are few detectable differences in the Mac SE emulation, and it’s not as well tested. The Mac 128K emulation can run some very early software that won’t run on a Mac Plus, but a lot of software that works on the Mac Plus won’t work on a Mac 128K (and only 128K of memory is very limiting).

You can use your laptop computer in designated areas in the reading rooms. Ask at Reader Registration for a computer use form when you apply for a reader's ticket. Please keep your copy of the computer use form with you at all times. You may be asked to show it when you enter the reading rooms.

There are several areas available in the Library for laptop hookup. In addition, wireless connections are also available. Please ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk.

Connect the provided video cable from the RGB or Monitor Output on the computer to the RGB Input on the projector; If condition persists, set the projector to RGB using the input button and change the display mode on the laptop. This might differ for each laptop. For most Dell laptops, press and hold the blue Fn button on the lower left of the keyboard, then press the F8 key.

For more complicated setup issues, you can usually access the monitor settings in Windows by right-clicking in the desktop window to get the "properties" of the desktop. Use the menu controls and make sure that the projector is set for input from the computer monitor connector (might be called "RGB"), not "VCR" or "S-video". Most Mac laptops are capable of producing 2 separate video signals.

No problem. Mac users can also download and read Sports Injury Bulletin, as long as you have a PDF reader and access to the internet. Adobe Reader is compatible with Macs running OS 7.5.3 or above. Mac OS X users can also use Preview, which is pre-installed along with Mac OS X and will open PDF files automatically.

Mac computers and printers use a variety of memory, which is called "SIMMS" or "DIMMS" or "VRAM". Most of my memory is sold from a Mac Memory Web page. I provide some descriptions there of memory for most of the systems I sell, but not for the printers. For printers you'll probably have to look at Apple's manual or an Apple document. While I try to identify issues and problems when I can, it is up to YOU the customer to determine what memory and how much memory you need.

Set the LCD monitor to 1024x768 (most G3 laptops) or 1152x768 (G4 Titanium). Set the external monitor to 1024x768 (75 Hz). Turn video mirroring on.

There appears to be a bug in some Epson scanner drivers that causes this to happen after scanning into PhotoScore and other applications. PhotoScore v2.10 and above offers a solution to this problem, so it recommended that you upgrade to this. Another solution is to close the Epson scanner driver window and everything should return to normal.
