What happens if I freeze the yoghurt?
Main_scdYou lose some, but not all of the probiotic benefit of the bacteria, because some of them will be killed in the freezing process.
Is there a maximum amount of yoghurt I can eat in one day?
Main_scdThe reason I put a "top" on yoghurt amount is because of the amount of one of the sugars of which lactose is composed: galactose. In other words, more than 3 cups would put stress on the liver to convert galactose to glucose and people with IBD don't need more stress on the liver. However, if you drip the yoghurt, you are getting rid of the watery part with the galactose so if you can eat 3 cups of dripped yoghurt per day (and I can't imagine why you would want that much), go ahead. The bacteria in these capsules are also found in yoghurt. Is it not better to take yoghurt?
BiofloraNo, it is not true that these bacteria are generally found in yoghurt. Other lactic acids bacteria, with different characteristics- such as: the ability to produce esters, the ability to rapidly acidify milk and to produce specific aroma, are used for the production of yoghurt; Bacteria used for the production of yoghurt are not of human origin, i.e. See similar questions...
Question 15: When making my own yoghurt or quark, can I use goat's milk?
Healing Cancer Naturally: Dr. Johanna Budwig's Diet & Healin...Dr. Budwig refers to dairy without mentioning goat milk (at least I have not read it), perhaps due to the fact that goat milk is not traditionally used in Germany though she does mention sheep's milk as being ok. Since goat milk fat is different and is generally seen as healthier, it could be the exception, but I don't know. In case of cancer, I would stick with the low fat principle of the Budwig Diet. Question 17: When making my own yoghurt or quark, can I use kefir?
Healing Cancer Naturally: Dr. Johanna Budwig's Diet & Healin...Kefir was never mentioned by Dr. Budwig. Although I feel more comfortable with low fat quark, cottage cheese and drained yogurt, I think strained kefir is an option. I have tried kefir for a while until I killed the kefir grains with a temperature that was too warm. My objections with it were the fishing out of the grains and that it would not strain very well. It drains poorly as I remember and I could not remove enough whey to get the same protein density as quark. See similar questions...
Can I recycle Mountain High Yoghurt containers?
Mountain High YoghurtMost Mountain High Yoghurt containers are made of Polypropylene #5, which is recyclable in some towns, but unfortunately not all. So why do we use it? #5 plastic uses less material than other plastics because it can maintain its structural integrity even with thin walls. That means containers can be 30% lighter, so every year we use 60 tons less plastic for our packaging. See similar questions...

Why can't I use the yoghurt I have made as a starter for the next batch?
Main_scdThis would be a bad practice, the commercial yoghurt or starter powder we use as a starter has been produced under tightly controlled production methods and should not contain undesirable strains. If we use the yoghurt that we have produced with each generation other strains are likely to contaminate it and the existing bacteria can also mutate to undesirable strains See similar questions...
What is the liquid left over from dripped yoghurt? is it whey?
Main_scdThe water is not whey, per se. Whey contains lactose is usually the word used when you separate milk into curds (protein) and whey just like Little Jack Horner. There is no culture involved, just separation which I believe is done by using rennet when making cheese. The water we get in our lengthy fermentation is actually the "water of hydrolysis) which forms when the culture splits lactose which yields two monosaccharides and H2O. See similar questions...

PDL::FAQ - Frequently asked questions about PDLWith versions of Perl prior to 5.6 this has to be done using a temporary variable. perldl> $a = sequence(5); p $a [0 1 2 3 4] perldl> $tmp = $a->slice('1:2'); p $tmp; [1 2] perldl> $tmp .= pdl([5, 6]); # Note .= !! perldl> p $a [0 5 6 3 4] This can also be made into one expression, which is often seen in PDL code: perldl> ($tmp = $a->slice('1:2')) .= pdl([5,6]) perldl> p $a [0 5 6 3 4] In Perl 5. What is an autocatalytic set ?
Self-Organizing Systems FAQ for Usenet newsgroup comp.theory...A collection of interacting entities often react in certain ways only, e.g. entity A may be able to affect B but not C. D may only affect E. For a sufficiently large collection of different entities a situation may arise where a complete network of interconnections can be established - the entities become part of one coupled system. This is called an autocatalytic set, after the ability of molecules to catalyse each other's formation in the chemical equivalent of this arrangement. See similar questions...
