Depends on the individual, but most hikers find that a down or synthetic bag rated at +20? F is a good compromise between warmth and weight/bulk. You might choose to add a VBL (vapor barrier liner) at Kennedy Meadows in early season for the high Sierra, or a 5? F bag. Otherwise you will probably be a little chilly at times. Most hikers carry a light sleeping pad, but some insulate themselves from the ground with only clothing and gear.

We do not allow any of our guests to bring sleeping bags with them as bugs and mites are known to live in them, and we do not want these in our hostels, let alone our guests having them. All our hostels provide bed linen (some hostels charge a supplement of ?2), or alternatively you can bring your own. Sleep sheets are also allowed. Blankets are also provided and towels can be rented in most hostels.

No, we do not allow personal linens such as sleeping bags, sleep sheets and pillows. Please check these items at our Front Desk upon arrival.

Sleeping bags work by trapping pockets of still air in their insulation, which your body then heats up to keep you toasty all night. Down sleeping bags use tiny puff of feathers to do this, and synthetic bags use a mass of fine synthetic fibers. When they get wet, the feathers in down sleeping bags clump together and loose their ability to trap air. Synthetic fiber does not suffer from this drawback, and it dries much more quickly than down.

While some hostels do provide linen free of charge, others will apply a charge for this service. All hostels provide duvets or blankets and private rooms will usually include linen. Once again, it is worth checking the hostel's microsite before travelling. Sleeping bags are sometimes not allowed, as they may carry bed bugs.

In the majority of cases all camping equipment will be provided for you. If you need to bring a sleeping bag your consultant will advise you of this. Park's fees are generally included in the overall trip cost. Your consultant will advise you of any park's fees that must be paid direct i.e. US $5 white water rafting river usage fee at Victoria Falls.

Depending on the season and how busy our factory is, our normal production time is around 4-5 weeks. This may be more for custom garments.

Two sheets and one pillowcase are included in the price. Blankets are present in the room. Towels should be brought by you or can be rented at the reception. Soap etc is not available. You do not have to bring a sleeping bag!

This is not roughing it. All sleeping accomodations are in cabins with real beds and mattresses, full bathrooms, including multiple showers, toilets which flush, and electrical outlets. Some people bring inflatable air mattresses for extra comfort, but they aren’t a necessity. You do need to bring your own linens and blankets, or you can rent them from us for an additional $40 for linens or $10 if you only need a pillow and pillowcase.

If you come in April/early May or late September/October a sleeping bag rated to 0°C will be sufficient. If you come during the cooler months of June-August a sleeping bag rated to -5°C will be very comfortable.

Because if you are, you would be left in the station holding to your sleeping bag, be advised and warned that managers will not pick you up from the station if you look like you didn't shower for hundred years. Everybody expect clean and new places. We don't expect you to be new buy we do expect you to be clean and look clean and not smoke in our rooms.( Be very much aware of that!)

You are welcome to provide your own linen (or bring a sleeping bag) for residential rooms with a common floor bath. For our facilities with full baths and suite baths, linen is standard in the room and may not be removed.

Sleeping bags are rated by temperature. (If the one you're looking at isn't, definitely don't take it.) For the First-Year Trip, bags should be warm to at least 20 degrees and should have 4-6 inches of loft (thickness when laid on the ground). Please note that participants are asked NOT to bring down sleeping bags on the First-Year Trip.

Only if you are seriously thinking of camping out independently, otherwise a sleeping bag is more trouble than it's worth. If you are going in for trekking or climbing or something, then you will be better to come equipped, otherwise no. Any "desert bivouacs" that are arranged for you will invariably include bedding.
