Yes, you do need a permit to drain your pool. They are free and can be obtained on-line or by calling the pool drainage hotline # 480-350-8521. The permit is valid for 30 days from the date of pick up. for where can you drain it, you have several options; if you know where the sewer clean out is "on your property", you can drain the pool into it. If you do not know where the clean out(s) are located, you can usually drain your pool into the gutter on the street.

NO. If you are currently using chlorine (or bromine in a spa) the Sigma III can be installed without making any changes to the water. The chlorine will slowly dissipate, and you will have a chlorine-free pool in no time. If you are using some type of alternative chemical, like Baquacil, you will need to put in certain chemicals that neutralize the Baquacil before putting the Sigma III in, much like converting back to chlorine. You should be able to find those chemicals at your local pool store.

The Town's Pool Enclosure By-Law requires the installation of fences around a swimming pool. (There are some instances when this requirement is exempted - please contact the Building Section for more details.) It is the installation of this fencing for which the permit is for, not the actual installation of the swimming pool. During the dry season, definitely not. If we get enough rain at this time of year to overfill the pool you can rest assured it will not last and within a very short space of time the water will evaporate off again.
