No. Each file is looked at as a whole, and the overall best applicants are admitted, so we do not have a cut-off point for scores or GPAs.

The weight given to standardized admissions exams varies from program to program and discipline to discipline. If your exam score is not reflective of your academic accomplishments and capabilities, it is often a good idea to ask one of your faculty recommenders to address it in the letter. This can be particularly effective if you have taken advanced courses or done independent study with that professor.

Admission to the Ph.D. progarm is based on an overall evaluation of applicants' scores, grades, recommendation letters, as well as potential for scholarship in our program. A general guideline for admission is a minimum score of 1200 on the combined verbal and quantitive GREs.

We do not have minimums required for application. But of course the higher your score, the better your chances of admission. Average GPA of admitted applicants is 3.8 (4 point scale).

Here at the University of Southern California we do a comprehensive review of all applications. We do not use a formula or have minimum test score and GPA requirements for admission to USC. We look very closely at test scores because we have found that to some degree, successful completion of the doctoral coursework and thesis research is highly predicted by strong scores on these tests. We consider a score of 500 per section and a score of 3.5 on the Analytical Writing to be competitive, although applicants are neither accepted nor denied solely based on GRE scores.

Initially, we advise an international applicant to attach photocopies of his/her score reports with the application, but official reports issued by ETS will be required before full processing of that application will take place. In some instances, the Graduate School will accept certified copies of these reports.

What we are most interested in is the applicant's research potential. These scores are just one of many criteria we consider. There are no minimum scores. We much prefer students who have taken challenging advanced courses to those with top scores on rudimentary courses. There are many ways for applicants to demonstrate their research potential.

We normally tell students they should be in the B+ range to be competitive. The admission process incorporates 1) overall GPA; 2) prerequisite GPA; and 3) GRE score. Each of these areas is weighted equally. Thereby, the applicant could remain in the competitive range if they were low in one area i.e. overall GPA and up in the other two. Historically, applicants with GRE scores below 900 are not competitive.

Your junior/senior major GPA should be above a 3.0; however, if there are extenuating circumstances for a lower GPA, you may still be considered for admission. Please address those issues in your personal statement. The GREs are only one of the factors we consider, so again, if there are extenuating circumstances, use your personal statement to address this issue.

The GRE scores and GPA are very important to gain admission to the ESPM graduate program. The average GRE scores for those we accepted in the program for Fall 2005 were: Verbal: 625/84%, Quantitative: 698/73%, and Analytical: 5.10 or 701/83%. The average GPA for those accepted was 3.60. The GPA is based on undergraduate course work done in the last two years, i.e. junior and senior status.

There are no minimum cut-off scores but admitted students are likely to have scores similar to other competitive programs in Rackham.

Grade Point Average (GPA) is only used for studies conducted through academic courses. The courses that are listed on your transcripts from work or life experience will be marked as passed ("P"). If you are transferring credits from another educational institution, we will use the grades listed on your transcript in place of "P". A total GPA can still be calculated based on the graded coursework you have completed.

Each year the admissions committee sets goals for the future entering class. For the Entering Class of 2008, the LSAT 25th percentile goal is 149 and 3.0 GPA. The more competitive candidates will submit an averaged LSAT score that meets the 25th percentile goal or higher. Those who do not meet these goals are generally delayed or denied.
