For most of our work, we fly a Cessna 177 "Cardinal", a four-seat, single engine airplane. We own the aircraft which enables us to fly at a moment's notice. For very low level aerial photography (between 100-300 feet above the ground), or in areas where terrain is a factor, we use a helicopter.

Allegiant Air operates the McDonnell-Douglas MD 82/83 and McDonnell-Douglas MD 87 series aircraft. Both are powered by two (2) tail-mounted Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines. Both aircraft have two (2) flight deck crew members and three (3) in-flight crew members The MD 82/83 aircraft has 150 coach class seats. The MD 87 aircraft has 130 coach class seats.

Metro pilots fly a variety of aircraft, including the AS350Bx A-Star, AS365 N3 Dauphin, EC-120B Colibri, EC-130 Ecostar, EC-135 (MetroLife Division), the Bell 206B III and Bell 412 (MetroLife), the Sikorsky S-76A (Metro and MetroLife) and the Schweizer S-300CBi. Pilot qualification level will determine which aircraft can be flown online. Special liveries are available for these aircraft. Metro pilots can download them from the Metro web site (password required).

Young Eagle flights can take place in nearly any type of aircraft. Most are flown in small fixed-wing aircraft (for instance, Cessnas and Pipers) but sometimes other aircraft are used..

A wide-body aircraft has a wider fuselage, or tube, than a narrow-body aircraft, meaning that it gives passengers a wider cabin and a larger feeling of space. Control response time is often quicker so the regular pilot may tend to flare for the landing much to early. Also, headwinds and crosswinds have a much greater effect and can more easily spoil your navigation and use up all your fuel.

Depending upon the aircraft, the pilot's discretion, the flight conditions, and the young person's abilities and interest, Young Eagles may be able to handle the controls for a portion of the flight. If this is possible on a particular flight, it is always done only after a safe altitude and flight condition is reached, and under the pilot's close supervision and instruction.

The Learjet aircraft carries up to $20 million of coverage per aircraft per occurrence. The twin engine propeller aircraft carries up to $1 million of coverage per aircraft per occurrence.
