Q:  What is GMO, and what does that mean? Is your soymilk independently tested for GMO?

About Sammi's Best Products
A:  Genetically Modified Organisms, genetically modified seeds or seed that have been developed using bioengineering technology. We use Certified Non-GMO sourced ingredients. That means the soy seed ancestry can be traced and documented. Europe will not permit the sale of food products that originate from or contain genetically modified ingredients. Once a product tests positive for GMO it cannot be marketed in Europe.

How does a GMO differ from one that is derived from conventional breeding?

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) on Genetic Engineering
In conventional breeding by reproduction, only individuals from the same species or related species can be mated to produce offspring. The offspring will have genes from both parents, but the genes are just different variants of the same genes coding for the same functions. A GMO, however, bypasses reproduction altogether, so completely new genes with new functions, as well as new combinations of genes can be introduced, which will interact with the organism's own genes in unpredictable ways.
