What type of polish does Martin recommend using on a satin finish guitar?

Martin Guitar FAQ
Martin does not recommend using guitar polish on a satin finish instrument, however, it will not harm the guitar. You may notice after time the finish will begin to shine unevenly. To clean the guitar, Martin suggests using a warm, damp cotton cloth to wipe it down and then a dry cotton cloth to finish drying it off. This will remove harmful chemicals.

How can I get a glossy finish when the can says "Satin"?

Cabots - faq - cabots.com.au
Most woodstains and varnishes are relatively thin and over time the flatting agents may settle out into fairly solid layers on the bottom of the can. Applying an incompletely stirred mid sheen product often results in a high gloss coating on the timber as a large proportion of the flatting agents are left at the base of the container. To achieve the specified sheen level all of these flatting agents must be distributed evenly throughout the can. See similar questions...

What type of finish do you recommend to use on the models?

FAQ
We like to use a clear lacquer. A product by Deft is very good finish that can be sprayed on the model. It is a water based finish which dries very quickly, allowing several very light coats to be applied, rather than heavy coats. We also have many customers who paint the models. How should I clean/polish my guitar?

Taylor Guitars | FAQs Answers
For all "glossy" Taylor models, we recommend a non-abrasive (very important!) carnauba wax or a brand-name guitar polish to rub out minor scratches and to preserve the high-gloss finish. However, our 300 and 400 Series models, two of the four Taylor acoustic basses, our 100 and 200 Series, and all Baby Taylors have a "satin" (non-gloss) finish. On these Taylors, you don't want to use any type of polish, wax, or Murphy's Oil Soap anywhere on the body, because they can damage the finish. See similar questions...

Which guitar kit do you recommend?

Musical Instrument Makers Forum miniFAQ: Acoustic Guitar Mak...
A kit from any reputable dealer will likely make a fine instrument. Our members seem to prefer the kits from Stuart-MacDonald largely because they include both a full-size plan and an instructional video, and because with their kits you get the option of a bolt-on neck. We don't recommend trying to alter a kit that has pre-bent sides, nor to change a 14-fret neck to a 12-fret neck (or the other way around). See similar questions...

What type of guitar does Julian play?

Julian Lennon Frequently Asked Questions!
Julian prefers acoustic guitars and plays a 1957 Gibson, a 12 string Taylor and a CJ 32 Yamaha. "Acoustics are much easier to lug around and obviously if you have an idea it's a lot easier, for me, I feel like there's a whole sound there rather than the electric sound, unless you're gonna carry another bunch of gear around to plug it all in. Even the walkmans and stuff, I like the sounds of acoustic and I'm mainly a rhythm player anyway. See similar questions...

What is the difference between a Satin finish, a Semi Gloss finish and a High Gloss finish?

Welcome to Knox Hardwood Flooring
The Satin finish is a matte finish and the easiest to maintain. Because it has a low sheen, it is very forgiving insofar as showing scratches, dents, and wear and tear over time. The Semi Gloss finish has some shine and is a little harder to maintain in that it will show scratches, dents and wear and tear sooner. The High Gloss finish is the hardest to maintain in that it shows everything - dust, dirt, scratches, dents, and wear and tear in general the quickest. See similar questions...

What type of strings came on my Martin?

Martin Guitar String FAQ
From time to time Martin will change the type of strings used on new Martin guitars. Generally, all non-cutaway dreadnoughts and jumbos get medium gauge. All X-Series, cutaways and smaller models such as the 000 and 00 get light gauge strings. All 12 string guitars get extra light gauge. Of course they have a few exceptions with nylon string guitars and bass guitars. See similar questions...

WHY DOES FMV OPINIONS RECOMMEND USING THE TRANSACTION MONTH DISCOUNT (MONTH-OF)?

Business Valuation Market Data | FMV Faqs
While there are arguments for month-prior, month-of and month-after, no single argument has been compelling to FMV Opinions. FMV Opinions uses the month-of because it is the time frame closest to the actual restricted stock transaction. Moreover, because, for most transactions, the exact date is unknown (only the month is indicated), by using the month-of, you are probably equally weighing pre- and post-transaction pricing. In other words, it balances itself out. See similar questions...

What type dinghy do you recommend?

Atom Voyages | Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
I find a rigid dinghy powered by oars is the most practical. Inflatable dinghies with powerful motors are fast and the dinghy takes up less space when stowed, but they are a prime target for thieves and are easy to vandalize. I saw one dinghy flat on the beach in the islands sliced end to end by a boy who thought it a great joke. I'd say it's a poor choice to have a dinghy that can be destroyed in 5 seconds by nothing more than a kid with a bad attitude and a pocket knife. See similar questions...

Martin Guitar FAQ
Martin will not refuse to register your guitar if all proper documentation is received by them after the thirty-day period. They do ask the paperwork be submitted within the thirty-day period because they have found if not handled within that time frame, the paperwork will be set aside and neglected. They are only trying to assist the customer in making sure the guitar is registered in the event it would be stolen, lost or require warranty work. See similar questions...

I would like to have a strap button installed on my Martin guitar. Will this void the warranty?

Martin Guitar FAQ
It will void the warranty on the neck if the strap button is not installed in the correct location of the neck or if the neck is damaged while the strap button is installed by an unauthorized repair technician. We highly recommend the strap button be installed by an authorized warranty repair person in the location recommended by the C. F. Martin Company. See similar questions...
