In many cases, the boiler is located at the lowest point in the system, which means that there is little likelihood that the boiler will run dry. If radiators are installed at an elevation below the top of the boiler, a low water cut off is necessary. Examples include baseboard radiators near the basement floor, and basement in-floor radiant heating. There are some states, New York and New Jersey for example, and some local jurisdictions that mandate their use regardless of radiator location.

A good quality Carbide Tipped Triple Chip saw blade is preferred when cutting Plexiglas. This reduces the amount of chipout on the opposite side of the material and produces a smooth edge. A Router can be used to cut Plexiglas as well. The Router should be at least 1.5 HP or better and with changeable collets for a 0.5" Shank quality 2 flute Carbide bit. The slot should be cut 1 1/2" down from the center of the ridge on both sides. This is the same if you have trusses or a 2X ridge board. If you have high colour in your water it is most likely a concentration of tannins. High tannin levels are found in most surface water supplies and some groundwater or simply in waters where large quantities of vegetation have decayed. Unfortunately tannins cannot simply be removed from water by a physical means of filtration. To make a double boiler or hot water bath to melt ingredients, fill a large saucepan 1/4 full with water and bring it to a full boil. Lower the temperature so that the water is boiling but not fully. Measure the ingredients to be melted into a heat proof measuring cup (such as one made by Pyrex or Corning) and place the cup into the boiling water. a fluctuation in the water line of a steam boiler is referred to as Surging. A small amount of fluctuation is not uncommon, but if severe enough can cause a number of undesirable conditions, i.e. water hammer, inefficient operation, etc. Severe surging is recognized by a water line that is fluctuating more than one-inch or when water is visibly running down from the top of the sight glass.
