How long can sod be left on a pallet after cutting?

BOYD SOD FARM -Satisfied Customers
How long you can leave sod on a pallet depends on the time of year. During the summer months, when it is extremely hot, you want to lay sod within a day, maybe two days of being cut. In the winter it can wait a few days, but the sooner it is laid the better. A few tips to keeping sod....place pallets in shade if you cannot lay them right away. Never put water on the pallets, this will cause the sod to attract heat more and burn the sod, killing it almost instantly.

The important thing to watch is the root growth. Sod will produce root growth even if the top is not green. Watch very tiny, thin, fuzzy white shoots to indicate the sod is growing.
