The reason you can only send 160 characters in each message is that most mobile phones are only able to receive 160 characters.

IndiSMS sends messages in international standard Unicode text format. As a result, each non-English character uses two bytes per character, while English characters use only a single byte per character. But even if you wish to send a long message, continue typing and the extra characters will get split into a second message automatically.

If you send an email message with more than 160 characters of text, then only the first 160 characters will be sent to the mobile phone as the SMS message. So be sure to check the length of your message as anything after the 160 limit will be cut-off.

Sending control characters is easy: just write a send command and enter the control character you want to send. I like to enter most control characters literally - since the resulting script is more readable. However, your editor has to allow this. For example, suppose you want to send a Control-A.
