FolkAlley.com is a listener supported 24-hour, online music service featuring folk, traditional, Americana, Celtic, singer/songwriter, world, and acoustic music. It was launched in September 2003 and is produced by WKSU-FM in Kent, Ohio. Along with the hosted music stream and real-time playlist, the web site also offers a blog, music news, folk links, information on musicians, new releases, exclusive artist interviews, and more.

Then, you need to make sure you are logged into the site using your username and password. When you do this, a list of streaming links will appear at the top left corner of most of the pages. There are links for RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, MP3, and aacPlus. The MP3 streams and the 64 kbps aacPlus stream require a broadband cable modem or DSL connection, but the RealPlayer, Windows Media and 32 kbps aacPlus links will work on either a dial-up or broadband connection.

Folk Alley is listener supported and is a registered 501c (3) non-profit organization through Kent State University. FolkAlley.com receives financial and in-kind support from WKSU-FM. If you are lucky enough to live in New Zealand, occasional sightings have been known. The guys have been seen out and about performing at The Classic and also the Indigo bar (now known as the San Francisco Bathhouse) and BATS. saw the guys performing at the Edinburgh Fringe. Folktalk is a much more broadband unmoderated group, adding support for traditional music and more philosophical discussion. FolkDJ-L is the folk radio list, but many performers and managers have also joined to interact with radio programmers.

Many of the melodies in the Sacred Harp are also found in ballads, dance tunes, and other songs in the oral tradition of the United States and the British Isles; many other melodies resemble folk tunes in their melodic contour, scales, and phrase structure. These songs are sometimes called "folk hymns," even when the hymn texts are by Watts or other known poets.

It's a play on N? Metal, a term for bands who do heavy metal with the same sort of new sound. Sample bands include Soil, Saliva, Drowning Pool, Godsmack, Disturbed, and many more. N? Folk is a term I invented while doing this section, and it refers to the various mostly female folk rock artists popular today such as Jewel, Alanis Morissette, Sarah McLachlan, and a few others. Whether this term will catch on and come into wider use remains to be seen.

The Sonic Boom! Two guys with guitars (some other funny looking instruments have been known to put in the occasional appearance). They write their own lyrics and music, and are very humorous laid back performers who do a mean Bowie impersonation. It should be noted that chairs are a great deal more interesting with the guys sat on them. Conchords EP released on SubPop in August 2007. Purchase online here. Many neighborhoods have decided that they would like to have a paved alley. The City does not pay for these improvements. However, the City will provide for an assessment project to get the work done. If a neighborhood is interested in paving their alley, someone in the neighborhood must circulate a petition (pick it up at the City Engineering Office) to adjacent landowners to find out who is interested in paying for the improvements.

George Washington McCaskill built the mill in 1894. The small village around the mill was named for an early settler, John Alley, but he didn't own the mill. The mill was never very successful as a business and went through about a dozen owners, so many folks can claim family connections to this beautiful landmark. Alley History

Folk music, to borrow from the CD reviewing policy of fRoots magazine, is music which has some roots in a tradition. The word ‘folk’ has acquired multiple connotations, from the use of the phrase by the American record companies to mean ‘anyone playing an acoustic guitar’, to the outsiders image of a form of music exclusively practiced by and listened to by old white bearded men in Arran sweaters singing with one or more fingers in one or more of their ears.

The Shop, or "Diagon Alley", is used to sell Wizard Trading Cards. These cards were made by various staff members and can be collected throughout your 'years' here at Hogwarts. We hope to eventually add more shops, but at this time it is not possible with the software available to us.

The Boston Folk Festival is in two parts: the Songwriting Contest Finals, on Saturday, September 15 from 6pm - 9pm and the three stages of music on Sunday, September 16, 2007 from 11am-7pm. The Sunday activities will also include a children's activities area, as well as food and crafts vendors.
