You do not have to display L Plates and you can take a passenger on the back. This depends more upon the rider than the bike. a mad 50cc scooter rider may well beat a 900cc Fireblade around town but the reverse could be equally true. Generally, bikes are faster and accelerate quicker so tend to leave scooters behind on any open road. scooters are more nimble through traffic so tend to catch the bikes up at the lights and get through tight traffic that bikes can't. Just remember, it's not a race, riding safely is far more important than shaving a minute off your journey.

Yes. The RTA requires you attend a pre-learner course. The course is two half days of training and requires no previous experience. You will be provided with a helmet, gloves and scooter (or motorcycle). This is a community WALK, not ride. Please do not bring your bikes. We also anticipate seniors as well as little ones all along these trails. So for safety reasons, please do not bring a bike.

Children are permitted to ride bicycles to school. There is a bike cage located near the bus loading/unloading zone in the rear of the school. In accordance to state law all children are required to wear a helmet while riding their bike to and from school. If a child is seen without a helmet, then the school reserves the right to detain the child in the office until a parent can pick them up or they are given permission to walk home.
