We do not support using the drive connected via an ATA card. Please connect the drive using an IDE connector on the motherboard. In addition, some motherboards have four IDE connectors rather than two. In that case, we would recommend connecting the drive using IDE-1 or IDE-2. Sonnet Tempo Serial ATA PCI, PCI-X, and PCIe (PCI Express) cards only support drive hot swapping when used in Mac computers running Mac OS. SATA drive hot swapping is not supported in a desktop or server PC running Windows XP, Server 2003 or Vista. A SATA drive appears to the system as a not-removable hard drive and there is no mechanism in Windows to prepare the drive for removal.

We recommend using the newer ATA 66/100/133 cables in order to achieve the best system performance. These ATA cables have 3 colored connectors with each connector having a specific purpose. Be sure to plug the correct connector into the appropriate device. The black connector at the other end is for your master device, usually the hard drive you boot from.

You should try increasing the switch time using "multinet changeparams -switch ". Also make sure the wireless zero config is turned off, and you are able to connect to the network. A way to check for connectivity is by following these steps. Firstly, turn off the MultiNet service, using "net stop MultiNetService". Then, turn on Wireless Zero Configuration, and try connecting to your network. Once you are done testing, turn off Zero Configuration, and turn on the MultiNet service.

If you are installing Windows XP on a system where you only have Serial ATA Drives you might encounter a problem where Windows does not seem to detect your Hard Drive and reports "No mass storage device found" during an installation (this occurs in Windows NT and Windows 2000 as well). This is because there are no SATA HD drivers in Windows XP/2K/NT and you need to load 3rd party drivers (just like with many SCSI drives).

EIDE, SCSI, or Serial ATA (SATA) drive is not recognized during the installation of Windows NT/2000/XP. The installer reports that there is no drive present for the Windows installation, even though the controller recognizes the drive. The drive may not be detected during the installation of Windows because you have not yet loaded the drivers for your EIDE, SCSI, or SATA controller.
