BHA and BHT are the most common human and pet food preservatives. These antioxidants protect fats and oils from becoming rancid and developing an off flavor. The FDA has determined that these antioxidants are safe and effective when used in the recommended quantities of less than 200 ppm of the fat or oil content. Federal officials carefully monitor the extent of consumption of the additives, and the results of any new research to assure its continued use within safe levels.

TeX is a typesetting system written by Donald E. Knuth, who says in the Preface to his book on TeX (see books about TeX) that it is “intended for the creation of beautiful books — and especially for books that contain a lot of mathematics”. Knuth is Emeritus Professor of the Art of Computer Programming at Stanford University in California, USA. Knuth developed the first version of TeX in 1978 to deal with revisions to his series “the Art of Computer Programming”.

Knuth has declared that he will do no further development of TeX; he will continue to fix any bugs that are reported to him (though bugs are rare). This decision was made soon after TeX version 3.0 was released; at each bug-fix release the version number acquires one more digit, so that it tends to the limit pi (at the time of writing, Knuth’s latest release is version 3.141592).

WYSIWYG is a marketing term (“What you see is what you get”) for a particular style of text processor. WYSIWYG systems are characterised by two principal claims: that you type what you want to print, and that what you see on the screen as you type is a close approximation to how your text will finally be printed. There are two answers to this.

Gore-Tex fabric is created when Gore laminates their patented Gore-Tex membrane to high-performance textiles, which are then used by garment manufacturers to make outerwear, accessories, and footwear. The Gore-Tex membrane has 9 billion pores per square inch, with each pore 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet. These tiny holes are too small for water and wind to pass through from the outside, which is how Gore can guarantee you'll stay dry and warm in a garment made with Gore-Tex fabric.

In general, foods will spoil without some form of temperature control or preservatives. BHA, BHT, and ethoxyquin are chemical antioxidants designed to extend the shelf life and reduce fat spoilage (rancidity) of pet foods and pet treats. Chemical additives and artificial preservatives such as BHA, BHT, and ethoxyquin may cause dry skin, allergic reactions, dental disease, and poor health, as well as stimulate adverse effects on liver and kidney functions.

A29 - A simple wedge micrometer that is cut out of paper can be used on larger drivers to measure their peak-to-peak cone excursion. It is a rectangular triangle with 2:1 sides and a scale at its base line. Attached to the dust cap of a driver cone it moves back and forth. The eye cannot follow the movement, but sees a diagonal line that intersect the scale graticule.

With any booster model, a child can put slack in the seatbelt. The shoulder belt guides of certain combination boosters can catch the shoulder belt, preventing the retractor from taking in the slack. These boosters can still be used safely! Proper supervision is always necessary for squirmy kids or escape artists.

Bring a book or something to read. Sometimes there is a period of waiting before jurors are sent to a courtroom.
