The investigation on which Nostradamus, astrology and the Bible is based, showed by means of the quatrains and the letters to Cesar and Henry II, that Nostradamus had the strong conviction that God gave to him the gift of prophecy. During 29 years, from October 16, 1524 to October 11, 1553, he got "imaginations" (visions). These "imaginations" contained hints to wars, disasters and the like.

Answer. Apart from his professional works (in which no one is really interested) he produced a number of prophetic works. We discern between the Centuries and the Prognostications. The Prognostications are like an Almanac. They contain a series of Predictions about the next year. Because these predictions were fulfilled (or not) more than 440 years ago few are interested in them. The really interesting stuff is the Centuries.

Answer. Very little or nothing. He does refer to the King of the Mongols, and to a King from beyond the Black Sea. Most of the discussion about China relates to a verse from the Bible that mentions an army of 200 Million. If the prediction is very specific, it is probably bogus. Nostradamus almost always concealed his meaning in anagrams, symbolism, and mythological allusions. (There are exceptions, however, see below.) These articles almost never give a citation to the original verse.

Answer. The names of [Louis] Pasteur, [Gen. Francisco] Franco, and others are clearly given by Nostradamus. The exact date of the London Fire (1666) is also plainly given. Many interpreters think that Hitler's name is also given, slightly modified, as "Hister." There are still many unsolved names and dates. In other quatrains, several dates are given in terms of fairly specific and unique astronomical data (e.g., planet positions in the zodiac). Answer.

Answer. Nostradamus wrote primarily in "early Modern French," with an admixture of archaic words mostly derived from Latin and Greek. Early Modern French is approximately contemporaneous with Shakespearian English. He also incorporates words from the "Languedoc" or Provencal dialect of southern France. Readers who are familiar with Latin and modern French can often understand the original language, even if they have not studied early French or Provencal.

a physician, Nostradamus became famous because of fighting the plague. He traveled through the infected areas and applied, with success, medicines that were uncommon in his time. He translated a book by Claudius Galenus, the founder of West European healing. an astrologer, Nostradamus became famous for the yearly publishing of almanacs (beginning in 1550). These almanacs contained political predictions for each month, later known as the Pr?sages.

Nostradamus was a French physician. He was born in 1503 in Saint-R?my de Provence, France. He died in 1566 in Salon-de-Provence, France. He was a catholic. His parents and grandparents were Jewish from origin, but had themselves baptized catholic.

The word Prophecies is a name for a series of more than 940 predictions which are written as quatrains, four-line verses. The Prophecies are published in parts. The publishing of the first four chapters went together with a letter from Nostradamus to Cesar, his oldest son. The publishing of the last three chapters went together with a letter from Nostradamus to Henry II, king of France.

Answer. Nostradamus was educated as a physician and was noted for his work during the plagues of the 16th century. In later years, he worked as an astrologer to clients who included the Queen of France.

The name of Neptune can be found in a number of quatrains as well as in a number of the Pr?sages. However, there is nothing that shows that Nostradamus knew about the existence of other planets than the seven "classic" planets of his lifetime: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. If he gave lists of planets, he always listed one or more of these planets and never one or more of the transsaturnial planets.

Anybody can make up a load of tosh which is incredible easy to interpret in a way which suits the interpreter. (I should know, sweetie.) I suspect that the world as we know it will come to an end in the year 3472 when the last weedy little human being finally gasps its final breath and the cockroaches will take over .

Answer. It is commonly believed that the first two Anti-Christs were Napoleon and Hitler. The identity of the third Anti-Christ is not yet known. Some people believe that Saddam Hussien will be the 3AC. Many believe that the 3AC will come from the Mid-East. Others have argued that the 3AC will come from East Asia (China, Mongolia or Korea.) This is a common topic of discussion in the Nostradamus newsgroup.

The message Nostradamus wants to give to humanity, can be read most clearly in his letter to Cesar. Some of its elements can also be found in the quatrains and the letter to Henry II. Between 1555 and 3827, God will execute his judgment regarding the world. This will happen by means of one thousand disastrous events, that will take place irrevocably. These events are described in the quatrains and will occur between 1555 and 3797. In 2827, the biblical kingdom of one thousand years will begin.

In the Prophecies, wars are predicted, political quarrels and various kinds of disasters such as floods, famine and epidemics. The language of the Prophecies is most of the time unclear and Nostradamus gives only a couple of times a hint to a fulfilment date.

According to Nostradamus, the events which he predicts in the Prophecies, will take place in the whole of Europe, Africa and a part of Asia. The investigation on which Nostradamus, astrology and the Bible is based, showed that his predictions refer to West-, Central- and Southeast-Europe, Asia Minor and the countries around the Mediterranean Sea. He did not predict events for North-, Central- and South America, Africa, East-Europe, Asia or Australia.

From 1550, Nostradamus became increasingly famous by his almanacs and books about health and beauty. When Henry II, the French king, died in July 1559, Nostradamus suddenly became famous because rumours spread that he predicted this in one of his Prophecies. The reputation of the Prophecies up till today is caused by the controversy they always evoke. Despite the vague contents, people think that some of his predictions really became fulfilled.

A large number of investigators will answer this question with "yes". However, a comparison between their comments shows in many cases that they differ from each other regarding the interpretation of the quatrains. In only a minor number of cases, they have a uniform opinion about the nature and the date of the event that Nostradamus would have meant.
