Cotton slacks and shirts are ideal, with a sweater or other layers to shed as the day heats up. A hat with a brim is essential, and a cotton bandanna useful, especially in Amboseli, Kenya, which can be dusty. Khaki and cotton travel well, and pale earth colors such as tan or olive are best for viewing wildlife and birds. Camouflage clothes are illegal in many African countries. Solid-colored safari clothes, however, are practical and widely available.

Only members of your group will be on safari with you. We do not offer safaris to solo travelers. Groups must consist of a minimum of two travelers. Minivans carry a maximum of six passengers, while 4x4 safari jeeps carry four.

Group sizes vary according to the tour operator. Many Tanzania travel companies limit game drives to six or seven people per vehicle, using more than one vehicle if needed so that everyone is guaranteed a window seat and good photo opportunities. [top]

It is the policy of David Anderson Safari Consultants that photographers refrain from smoking inside safari vehicles. There are rest stops, which allow for smoking breaks.

Safari dress should be light, with durable cotton that is in layers. It should be clothes that can get dirty and can easily dry in the heat. Neutral earth tones colors are probably the best.

We have an informal agreement that a piece of netting worn on your person or hanging about your camp indicates you visit the Rialto. Remember there are people that have nets around that do *not* visit here.

Comfortable casual wear is entirely appropriate. Since this is an outdoor facility and the weather is often very warm, we recommend a hat or visor and sunscreen. A light wrap, sweater or jacket may be desired for the evening concerts.

The camps we use are mostly small and intimate, geared around personal service and comfort and are very luxurious. These camps cater to between 16 and 24 guests. Larger, less expensive game lodges have between 50 and 100 rooms.

The greatest profusion of animal, bird and plant life on earth. You roam across the countryside in search of Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Cape Buffalo and Leopard (the so-called "Big Five"). On any given day, you will encounter Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, a large variety of antelope species, Gazelle, Giraffe, Baboon and Hippo.

You need the PokeBlock Case. This can be obtained from the small girl inside the Contest Foyer (The red building) in Slateport City.

The first day is usually pretty cold and wet, so most people wear an ISDE GoreTex jacket or equivalent. The rest of the way down you can usually start the day in a Pak Jak and then strip down to a jersey once things warm up. A lot of guys wear their GoreTex jackets the whole way down and open the vents for cooling. These GoreTex jackets can often pay off with greater protection in the inevitable falls, get-offs, cactus-huggings, etc.

Many people do not wear anything. The room is completely private, so tanning in the nude it is perfectly acceptable. However, a bathing suit, undergarments, or anything else can be worn, the bronzer we use for initial color is water-soluble and will wash out of any clothing.
