Once you register for Summer Classes you need to come to the Financial Aid Office and fill out Summer Financial Aid Application in addition to your FAFSA. NO. The Federal Work Study program is a form of need based financial aid which subsidizes the student's wages. Students with a Federal Work Study award are eligible for certain student jobs to earn money toward college expenses. Each student who receives approval for Work Study employment will be allocated a certain number of hours that he/she may work (but not exceed) as part of the program. Work Study students receive a paycheck every two weeks, based on the number of hours worked.

Accept the Work Study and return one signed copy of the Financial Aid Award Letter to the UNI Financial Aid Office.

International students may enter the U.S. up to 30 days before registering for classes. New U.S. Immigration laws for international students have been passed and a new computer tracking system put in place in July of 2002. This system, called SEVIS, will record when an I-20 is issued, if a visa is granted, when and where a student enters the U.S., and if the student enrolls for classes. The Summer Session of the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs includes several courses in art history each year. A limited number of these are graduate-level, i.e., 4000-level and above. See [ here ]

For students attending our programs at Penn State who live in the New York, Philadelphia or Washington, DC metropolitan areas, we offer motorcoach service to and from the campus. The service is not only convenient but also an excellent way for students to get to know each other and start making new friends.

There are several programs that are available during the summer, however, please be advised that these costs are separate from your regular academic year tuition costs.

The first thing to do is talk to your supervisor to see if they need help over the summer and would like you to return. If that is a yes, you can return to that position but first you must have completed the 06-07 FAFSA. When the information is downloaded to our database, it will be reviewed to determine whether or not you are eligible to work in the summer. If you are eligible, you will receive a letter from us stating that you may begin working.

YES. Because of limited Work Study funding and financial aid eligibility requirements, not all students who apply for Work Study will receive it. If students are not awarded Work Study, they have some options: Contact the Financial Aid/Student Employment Office about Community Service Work Study opportunities. Contact the Financial Aid/Student Employment Office to be placed on a Work Study waiting list. If Work Study funds become available, students will be contacted.

Doctoral students can begin working in a lab the summer before they begin classes. Students may also be interested in the PhD Internship program. For some students, this provides a way to get settled into graduate life before classes are added to the mix.

We do not forbid you to work while attending Summer College but very strongly advise against it. You will be very busy as it is, balancing your classwork and social life. Getting good grades at Summer College will help you get into the college of your choice, so why jeopardize them? Besides, you won't get to know the other students as well and will feel socially removed from what is going on while you are working. Try to schedule your job around the Summer College dates.

There is a Job fair every August on the last day of orientation weekend (the day prior to the first day of classes). Most departments looking to hire students attend this job fair, while other departments submit their hiring needs in writing. A directory is distributed at the fair that includes a list of available positions on campus, as well as descriptions for each of those positions. At the job fair, students approach departments of interest to them.

The Office of Financial Aid offers about 2,300 undergraduates work on campus in the University bookstore, libraries, and department offices or in community service offices. Jobs to cover meal costs are also available. Through such programs students may earn between $1,500 and $2,500 per academic year. Most students work between 8 and 12 hours per week; we have found that this commitment does not adversely affect academic performance.
