We offer the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in Chemistry which differ in that the B.A. requires 9 chemistry courses and the B.S. requires 12 chemistry courses. The B.A. allows more flexibility to minor or major in another subject area, while the B.S. is strong preparation for graduate school or direct employment in the field. The Chemistry and Biology Departments cosponsor the B.S.

The Department offers three majors, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science.

The College has no “majors”. Instead, we enable students completing a bachelor's degree to concentrate in a specific discipline or combination of subjects. By far, the most popular choice of “Concentration” is Individualized Studies which follows an interdisciplinary approach allowing students to customize their plan of study to better fit their background and goals.

You can not pursue a degree in Biochemistry at Carnegie Mellon, but you can earn a B.S. or B.A. degree in Chemistry with an Option in Biochemistry. If you take a four course sequence in biochemistry related courses as part of your normal electives, you can earn this option. Also, several faculty members in chemistry have very active research groups in the field of biochemistry and you would have the opportunity to do research under their supervision.

Goldey-Beacom is Delaware's only nationally accredited College that is devoted solely to the study of Business. Students can select from such majors as Accounting, Management, Computer Information Systems, Finance, International Business, and Management Information Systems, to name a few.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Studio (Ceramics, Digital Media, Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, and Sculpture)

Principia offers 26 Bachelor of Arts majors and 6 Bachelor of Science majors. We also offer 4 minor programs with no major. Also if you have a specialized interest, you can design and petition for a special major, which can also include relevant courses offered at another college or university.

Barnard chemistry and biochemistry alumnae mostly continue in science, and most do some graduate study. However it is quite common for students to work for a year or two, and then begin graduate or professional school. About one third of our alumnae are practicing physicians. Many are clinicians, and many are also engaged in basic research, at universities or in the pharmaceutical industry. Another third have Ph.D.'s in chemistry or chemistry-related subjects.

We have nine full-time, Ph.D. chemists plus a half-time laboratory coordinator, and there are currently about 35 chemistry majors in the program.

You can earn an A.B. from Harvard College with a concentration (or joint concentration) in Music. We also have a graduate program that offers the PhD in Musicology, Ethnomusicology,Theory, or Composition, and a new A.M. program in historical Performance Practice.
