Do Google web apps (Gmail, Maps, Calendar, etc.) play nice with the PS3 web browser?

PS3 FAQ: answers to your PlayStation 3 questions - Engadget
We tried the lot of them, here's what we found: Gmail works in basic HTML mode, we didn't get it going in its full AJAXy form. Google maps worked well, draggable maps and all, but the format was messed up -- no search, no address entry. It was very weird. Calendar ran our browser out of memory the first time (huh?), but the second time it loaded -- awfully. So to answer your question, your mileage may vary with the fun AJAXy sites, but Google web apps didn't work too hot.

Which browser do you recommend to best view TMS maps?

Tiger Map Server Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
I test with the latest versions of both Microsoft Internet Explorer and NetScape Navigator. Everything looks and runs good with these packages. If you are running an old browser, try the old mapper at URL http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/mapbrowse. We won't be redesigning anything to accommodate old browsers and we don't particularly want to hear about the problems with them. Keeping your browser software current is *highly* recommended. How do I use a DOI name in a Web Browser?

Frequently Asked Questions
Applications using DOI names can be constructed on a web site with full functionality behind the scenes. For some applications, this may require additional functionality such as that supplied in the Handle System. DOI names are URIs (URNs) not URLs: they are names, not locations. Most web browsers support locations (URLs) but have limited functionality for names, though this is expected to improve substantially in the near future. However, DOI names are useable with browsers immediately. See similar questions...

Yem is right in that the so-called "upscaling" is either done in the device outputting the video or in the display. What Yem wanted to know was the difference. The way I understand it, the difference is in how this is done.
