What does Autoclave do?

Autoclave - Secure Disk Deletion
It securely erases everything in the writable space on a hard drive. Everything. All the files, all the free space, the partition table, the boot sector, the works. This includes the operating system and any preinstalled packages your hardware vendor may have included on the drive when you got it. Everything. I don't know how to say this more emphatically. When Autoclave is done running, you will have a hard drive filled with zeros, and nothing else. Ok, that was a bit of a simplification. See similar questions...

But does he need to autoclave needles even if they're brand new?

I heard that I can never have an MRI if I get a tattoo
No. Several years ago some artists claimed that they had developed a new method of tattooing. Supposedly the tattoos would rise to the surface and fade away after 3-5 years. Some unfortunate folks are just now figuring out that their tattoos are not going anywhere, and I'll bet they're not happy about it. Don't fall for this. See similar questions...

Why are the autoclave bags wet after a cycle? How does the Statim dry them?

Welcome to MedSpan
Bags remain wet for several reasons, first and foremost is the overloading of a machine. The next reason is because the inside of a cassette has not been properly cleaned and Stat-Dry applied. The Statim dries bags by circulating air through the warm but now dry boiler and through the cassette and out into the discharge bottle. The Statim 5000 has optional drying plates that act as a heat sink and also prevent the operator from overloading the cassette with bags. See similar questions...

autoclave is the same device used by hospitals, doctors and dentists to sterilize their equipment. Autoclave sterilization is the only way to ensure that all equipment is properly sterilized and safe to use on you. Autoclaves achieve sterilization through the use of intense steam heat and pressure over an extended period of time. Items such as dry heat sterilizers, chemical solutions, boiling and alcohol do not achieve appropriate levels of sterilization. See similar questions...

NALGENE Labware - Monthly FAQ
Polypropylene (PP) and polypropylene copolymer (PPCO) products can be autoclaved many times. Fluoropolymer products, i.e., products made of Teflon PFA, FEP or ETFE, can all be autoclaved without problems, except for the stopcocks in NALGENE Separatory Funnels, which should not be autoclaved because of resultant leakage problems.
