WinImages is an aspect-correct program. It reads the DPI (dots-per-inch) settings from an image file and uses them to set the ratio of width to height for display. Some programs do not set these values in the image file correctly, and as a result, the image will appear distorted. If your image is not the maximum size for the gallery page your thumbnail may be distorted. This exaggeration is most noticeable in vertical images. If you want to avoid the distortion please make a box in Photoshop that is 447 pixels wide and 350 pixels high that is white. Then save this newly generated file as the file for the registry. It is possible you have the Flash Mode set to one of the Slow Sync modes (lighting bolt with the word Slow). Slow synchronization flash sets a slow shutter speed for the background exposure and fires the flash for the subject exposure. If you are using the Enhanced Preview workflow images will print at the same rate that your images would normally print at, however if you are using the IVUE or FlashPix workflow then the images should print faster because only the information that your printer needs is being sent.
