Can I import MIDI files?

Yes. However, the way the channels are assigned by different people may mean it will take a little investigation to get the right results. Whenever you import a file OrganAssist needs to know which channels in the file should be directed to which manual. You can set this via the menus on the Library form ( General Midi Channels). If you do not know what the channel settings in the file are, import it anyway and OrganAssist will report at the end the total number of notes on each channel number.

Where can I find more MIDI files?

HymnSite.com FAQ
There are MIDI sites all over the web! Some of my favorite sites are on my links page. You can use any number of search engines to locate more sites than you can ever visit. To find specific songs at other sites, I usually go to Google (http://www.google.com) and use the following search syntax: +"part of the title" +[writer's last name] Drop the square brackets, but keep the quotation marks. Use as much of the title as you can, but not more than you are reasonably certain about.

earsense FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
earsense does not provide complete, high-fidelity music in conjunction with its commentary. earsense is not the music, it is about the music; earsense is not music but meta-music. Can you make me a custom video from my MIDI files?

Music Animation Machine: FAQ
Several years ago, I thought that people might want this, so I geared up for it: got the necessary equipment, added an offer to the MAM Viewer's Guide that came with the video, and told people about it. After a year or two of waiting, I decided nobody was interested, and dismantled the equipment and moved on to other things.

Why can't I play .sht files through my MIDI player?

HymnSite.com FAQ
The simple answer is that .sht files aren't MIDI files. The .sht extension is short for .shtml, which is the normal extension for html files that contain server-side features. Many servers (like the one I use) are configured to work with truncated, three-character extensions to accomodate name length limitations for files prepared in DOS or Win3.x environments (like the one that HymnSite.com was originally prepared with!). Instead of trying to play an .

Why are there so few tablatures as opposed to MIDI-files?

Add to our Guestbook!
Because noone is around to make them! I'm a keyboardist myself, and barely know my way around a guitar. Any attempt of mine at making tablatures for a technically challenging band like Shadow Gallery would most likely end up in woefully inadequate renditions not worthy of a site like this.

Why doesn't all midi-files play ?

Sokoban Frequently Asked Questions
Only one midi-file is playing. When next track is selected, nothing plays. This is caused by the fact that I am using relative paths to the MIDI-files. It seems that the MIDI-player sometimes "forgets" the current working path The simple solution is to always give the full path when starting to play a MIDI-file. This will be corrected in the next release. A workaround is to edit the Sokoban.ini file with an ordinary text-editor (notepad or wordpad).

How can I use Matlab's import feature to read signal files?

Frequently Asked Questions about PhysioNet
You can't in general, because Matlab doesn't know how to figure out which of the many supported formats is used in any given signal file, because it can't understand the most commonly used formats in any case, and because (in many cases) signal files are orders of magnitude larger than any matrix that Matlab can handle. See How can I read signal files? for a variety of ways to read signal files from Matlab without using its import feature.
