The acupuncturist gently inserts the needle just beneath the skin’s surface. The sensation varies from person to person. You may feel nothing, a quick pinch or perhaps a dull ache or tingle. Most treatments involve only two to six needles.

Acupuncture needles are nothing like syringe-style needles. They are super-fine, often as thin as a human hair, and solid. They are sterile and never re-used. There are different sizes of needles for use on different parts of the body.

Relax and bring your awareness back to your physical body. Breathe to the place you feel pain, imagining that each inhalation is bringing healing energy to the point, and that each exhalation is clearing out discomfort. Most people's experience of needles is of those used in injections and blood tests. Acupuncture needles bear little resemblance to these. They are much finer and are solid rather than hollow. When the needle is inserted, the sensation is often described as a tingling or dull ache. Needles are inserted either for a second or two, or may be left in place for 30 minutes or more, depending on the effect required.

Your bowel transit time is too slow. A person can go the bathroom every day and still be constipated if what comes out is what went in 3 days earlier. If this is the case, it should subside in a few days after you have normalized your magnesium levels and your transit time. You mistimed the suppository and didn't use it soon enough after going to the bathroom. Next time, use the suppository immediately after an evacuation. Staying seated will make this easier than walking around.

Many people say it feels like food is coming back into the mouth, leaving an acid or bitter taste. The burning, pressure, or pain of heartburn can last as long as two hours and is often worse after eating. Lying down or bending over also can result in heartburn.
