Frequently Asked Questions - Zoning | Boardman Township
Please talk with your neighbor about trimming the tree branches or ask if you can trim them yourself. If the branches are encroaching onto your property you are able to trim them on your property side. If a dispute arises between you and the neighbor it then becomes a civil matter. The Zoning Office should be called anytime there is a home in disrepair. Appropriate inspection and action will be taken if there are any violations.
Property owners in every state have the right to cut off branches that grow into their property. This rule is not written down or created by state statute or local ordinance, but is a common law right that has been created by prior court decisions. However, any property owner that does the trimming is responsible for the cost of the work, as well as responsible for any damages that result.

Generally the insurance responsibility lies with whoever's property is damaged. In other words, if a tree falls on your home, no matter where the tree came from, your insurance company should pay for your home repair. An exception would be if the damage occurred as a result of negligence; for instance, if the tree was dead before it fell, and you had proof that your neighbor knew the tree was dead. Under those circumstances, the damage becomes your neighbor's liability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Before any such action is taken, attempt to discuss the problem with your neighbor to determine if an amicable solution is possible. If not, the law may allow you to cut that part of the branch that is hanging over onto your property, so long as no permanent damage is done to your neighbor's tree. The law does not permit you, however, to go on to your neighbor's property and cut the branch, or cut any branches or parts thereof that are located on your neighbor's property.
Allan's Tree Service, LLC
The law concerning trees that are on or near property lines is extremely complex. We prefer to have the owner's permission before removing branches from a tree, even when those branches overhang another property.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CROWS
Good luck! Once crows have decided to come to your yard, it might be hard to convince them to leave. Plastic owl decoys will work, ... for about 15 minutes. A dog could be more effective, especially if it was encouraged to chase them. If, however, something really special was attracting the crows to the yard (like readily available food), the crows probably would figure a way how to get it and avoid the dog. The idea is to make the yard an unattractive place for the crows.
