The latest version of MasterCook for the Mac is MC 4.06. If you are purchasing a new copy of the program, you will want to look for this specific version, which may be marked on the CD itself, but not on the box. MasterCook Express is another title to look for. It is 4.06 Mac/4.07 PC, both on the same CD. It comes with fewer included recipes than the other version, but does have the full-featured program engine. It does not have a paper manual, but a pdf copy of the manual is included on the CD.

The compressed installer should be recognized by Stuffit Expander and should automatically be expanded after downloading. If it is not expanded, you can expand it manually using StuffIt Expander 6.0 or later. Many Window's MC users won't be able to import recipes that are exported in this Mac only format. To export recipes in the universal (.mxp) format, go to Preferences under the Tools menu.
