You can upload any .jpg image not larger than 1MB, however any image with a height or width greater than 1024 will be reduced such that its longest side is 1024. For this reason its very advisable for you to reduce your images to 1024 prior to uploading them as this will save you a LOT of time uploading.

The minimum size is 600x400 pixels with a color depth of at least 16 (65536 colors) We'd love to have images that are as detailed as possible, up to the 4MB per image upload limit. 1600 by 1200 can work. Then we reduce them for the web, but save the originals for the archives. So don't be afraid to upload high resolution pictures. The preferred format is JPG.

Each file can be as large as 5 MB. This free service is mostly intended for hosting images, but if you want to upload any file type with no size limit, please consider upgrading your account. Whenever you want to download an image in high-resolution format you have to register using your personal access details. Every image found by a search can be downloaded. You do not need your basket or light box. Click on the image so that it appears in the enlarged view. You will see a button called 'Download JPEG' underneath the image. Click on it. The rest of the process is dependent on the browser you are using. Click on the 'Download JPEG' button. Image opens in browser window.

All the images in the Photojournal are released with the maximum (or fullest) resolution available which is largely determined by the maximum resolution captured by the camera aboard any given spacecraft. The TIFF images are the highest resolution images made available to the Photojournal. All images are downloadable, with the TIFF file providing the fullest resolution. We cannot provide you with a higher resolution image than that which appears in the Photojournal.

The maximum size of photograph you can up load is 20k but we strongly recommend that you upload photos that are 15k or small.

The maximum size in bytes is 4MB, although this is about four times larger than what we recommend. The maximum dimension is 1025 x 1025 pixels though the recommended dimension is 750 x 500. If you upload a photo that is more than 4MB, you will get an error message. You need to reduce the size and try again. If you upload a photo that is larger than 1025 x 1025 pixels, we will automatically reduce the size.

Banner images should not exceed 200px x 75px in width and height respectively. Images exceeding this size will be cropped or excluded. You can get your banners hosted on a multitude of sites, and we recommend Photobucket, Imageshack or Flickr. For some reason, Blogger Photos does not allow direct linking, so your photos will not show up on our site if you host it there.

Images must be in gif or jpg format and under 4 MB in size. If you are having trouble uploading any image, please check the file type and size. Use Photoshop to convert image files to jpg or gif or to reduce the file size.

The maximum physical pixel resolution our screens have is 1366x768 (on 50", 55” and 63” screens). This resolution is known as WXGA (or Wide XGA). You can display computer resolutions up to UXGA (1600x1200) and TV signals up to 1080i (1920X1080), which will be scaled by the Plasmavision to fit the screen. All video signals are scaled to fit the screen.

Your image must be between 600 and 750 pixels on the longest side and have a filesize of less than 400kb. We have put these parameters in place so that what you upload is what will be displayed. No resizing will be performed (except when thumbnails and preview images are created.) This ensures that your image appears exactly as you uploaded it and also guarantees that everyone's photos will fit within the size limits of the site.
