A.  Actually, our best recommendation to home users is to use the webmail interface. Just point your web browser at the imap server that has your email on it http://imapserver(1/2/3).fnal.gov/. You will be prompted for a username and password. Enter your imap username and password and it will display your email.If you still want to use Outlook Express from home then read on: Different versions of Outlook Express have different setup steps, but most are similar.

Make a note of what you currently have in the "incoming mail server" entry (the name of your POP3 server). Change the "incoming mail server" from the name of your POP3 server to "localhost" (no quotes). Open the SpamBayes configuration page at http://localhost:8880/config (you can do this via the tray application, or just type that address into your browser). Enter your POP3 server's name in the top box ("Remote Servers").

To send mail using the new account, you will need to make it the default account. To do this, just highlight the YourDomain.com account by clicking on it once, then click "Set as Default" and Close. For the incoming POP3 and outgoing SMTP servers in Outlook, set both to yourdomainname.com using your own domain name. For your admin user, the username in Outlook is simply the admin user name. For additional email users that you create in your control panel, the username for Outlook is the full email address (emailuser@yourdomain.com).

These directions should work for most recent Microsoft Outlook Express versions, running on MacOS 8.0 and above. Click "Click here for advanced settings options". When checking my email on the web. It lets me login, but when I go to compose an email it says 'Invalid User Name and Password' log in agian.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) allows users further access to their mail through the use of mail folders, so as you store your mail in folders with your current mail client, you can store your mail folders on your mail server instead of only on your client. This facility greatly improves on POP.

A.  A few Pine users could not see their folders. This turned out to from a change in the IMAPD process and how it handled the client request. To get the folders back go to the main Pine menu and select Setup, then Config. Take a look at the Folder Preferences section. Enter the email account you have set up in your control panel. (See our FAQ if you have not done this already). Under incoming mail type in the following... mail.YOURDOMAINNAME.COM replacing the capitalized letters with the domain name and .com or .net... whatever you have. Under outgoing mail you may type in the same thing. However it is highly recommended that you use the smtp of your ISP provider. You will have to contact them to get that information. However it WILL work with mail.

Outlook Express has a Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus option at Tools | Options | Security . If this option is enabled, Outlook Express will disallow you to access any attachment that may potentially be a virus, for example, a file with an .exe or .scr extension. You can just turn off this option to access your attachments.
