Plexiglas bubble skylights are light, efficient, and inexpensive. They are particularly well-suited to flat roof installations since they shed water so well and gather light from many angles. Their light weight makes them easy to get up on the roof. Often the bubble shape allows for increased head room. They are quite modern in appearance and may not be suitable in certain architectural environments.

A good quality Carbide Tipped Triple Chip saw blade is preferred when cutting Plexiglas. This reduces the amount of chipout on the opposite side of the material and produces a smooth edge. A Router can be used to cut Plexiglas as well. The Router should be at least 1.5 HP or better and with changeable collets for a 0.5" Shank quality 2 flute Carbide bit. Check the protective paper covering for any rips, tears or folding at the time of purchase. In most cases if visual inspection is not done at the place of purchase, it's very difficult to prove product defects or damage done by the seller. Inspect all surfaces that will come into contact to reduce tearing and scratching of the protective paper covering and the Plexiglas finish. The temperature you pour the gel at will produce the bubbles you want. In other words, if you pour your heated gel at 200 deg. F, you will have lots of bubbles. If you pour your gel at 175 - 185 deg. F. you will have fewer bubbles. This is contrary to what you may have heard and still may depend on how close you are pouring your gel. Pouring slowly at 185 Deg. If it's not facing outdoors, and you are going to use inside of your house, like room dividers or something, and air-conditioned room, its okay to install. Unlike glass or mirror, Plexiglas intends to shrink and expand by temperature, it may cause many small air bubbles between glass surface and film as time goes on.
