There is no quick and easy way of doing this, although a number of methods are detailed in the EndNote manual that comes with your EndNote software (see Chapter 7: Importing Reference Data into EndNote pp. 155-164). First, save a backup copy of your Word document. Damaged field codes can be repaired by unformatting, removing stray field codes, and reformatting the document. To do so, follow these instructions: Choose the "Tools > EndNote Web > Unformat Citations" command, which will remove the reference list and revert the citations. Adobe Acrobat can be used to convert any document to Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). In most programs, you can use the "Print" command and choose "Adobe PDF" as the printer to use. This does not print out the document, but rather causes it to be converted into a PDF. There is a related program called "Acrobat Distiller" which can make more complex PDFs such as encrypted PDFs.
