Please note that AutoCAD is the result of 25 years of efforts by the many employees of Autodesk Inc. QCad was mainly created by one guy in a few years. Comparing the two is not really appropriate. QCad targets a different type of user than AutoCAD does. However, if you find yourself using only about 10% of the tools that AutoCAD offers, you might want to give QCad a try. Please make sure that you use the compatibility filter to import drawings from QCad 1.

QCad was designed as a 2d CAD application. The third dimension is not just another feature of a 2d CAD system. It's an altogether different application. There are currently many users out there who use 2d CAD systems and this is not likely to change since for many applications 3d doesn't bring any advantages at all. SMOKE handles 12 different road classes. The /ROAD CLASSES/ section of the MCODES file is used to indicate valid road classes in your inventory. T slots are cut in all kinds of machine tool tables, like milling machines, to fasten down the piece you are working on. You put a T nut in the T slot, a slotted piece of bar on top, a washer and a nut, and tighten it down. Many machine tools exert so much lateral force that several bolts are needed. When you know why you're creating a model, and what your audience (e.g. programmers, stakeholders, ...) then you can model just enough. The AutoCAD Support File Search path specifies the folders in which AutoCAD searches for support files. In addition to the files required to run AutoCAD, you can include files for fonts, menus, drawings to insert, linetypes, and hatch patterns in the support file search path. Answer: Check the geometry on layers that are turned off. The AutoCAD "Zoom Extents" area will include layers that have display turned off. The MicroStation "Fit" tool will fit only visible geometry. If you wish to have the AutoCAD "Zoom Extents" tool ignore geometry on a certain layer then it will be necessary to "Freeze" the layer. The AutoCAD Zoom-Extents command does not fit frozen layers.
