The browser button produces a pop-up window to save references or view comments. If you have a pop-up blocker installed, or use a browser that automatically blocks pop-ups, the button may not work as intended. To prevent the pop-up from being suppressed, hold down the CTRL key while clicking on the button.

Many of the pages you see in Blackboard do not exist anywhere as a separate file. Instead, they are created "on the fly" out of a database. When you use the browser's back button to get to a page created in this way, you'll get a cryptic but discouraging message about "Data Missing." Blackboard expects you to navigate through its contents by using the buttons and links it provides in the pages themselves, rather than by using the browser Back button.

Usually if the mode button does not work it is because one of the red buttons is slightly stuck inside the case. The best way to cure this is to unbend the end of a paperclip so that you can work the red buttons back and forth until they pop completely out and are flush with the computer case.
