Videos belonging to games from Blizzard contain DivX video, but with a different FourCC, namely "BLZ0". To play such videos you need to use ffdshow for decoding DivX video. The regular DivX decoder won't work (unless you manually change the FourCC). If that doesn't solve the problem, then you should use Media Player Classic or VideoLAN to play the file. Some DVD players play VCDs. The picture quality is slightly better than VHS videotape, but with greatly improved sound over VHS. Unlike DVDs, though, the picture cannot be anamorphic and so will either be pan-and-scan or letterboxed. And while there's no problem with regions, films will stretch over 2 discs so a change in the middle can break up the flow. After the avi is encoded by DivX codec, The logo does not exist in the avi file. If play back the avi file with official DivX player or use FFDSHOW filter, the logo does not show. Yes, ShowShifter can play any video format that Windows Media Player can play. By default ShowShifter looks in the 'Video' folder on each of your drives in order to list them. This location can be changed using the 'Read Video Files' page, details of which are in Readme.html which comes with ShowShifter. Subtitles can only be placed on top of the video. Placing the subtitles below the original video is possible by enlarging the video frame. This is done by adding black bars to the top and bottom of the video. These black bars will be visible when the video is not in fullscreen. They are different from black bars that are only visible during fullscreen playback. Those are not part of the video frame and thus can not be used to put the subtitles onto. This is a know limitation of PVR. Even if it is not the same chipsets that do the 2 jobs, if this functionnality was enabled, you could have a lot of jerks during AVI playing (and probably on current record too).
