How do I install an oil pressure gauge?

Nissan Silvia/200SX/240SX/Gazelle Frequently Asked Questions...
The traditional place is at the oil-pressure switch. On the SR20DE & SR20DET engines this is to the rear of the oil filter (which is on the right side of the engine, down low). An auto parts supplier should be able to supply the fittings you need. Looking at the wiring diagram, it seems the ECCS does not need the switch to be there, but you probably want to keep it. In this case a brass "T" fitting could be screwed into the original hole, and the switch and gauge take-off fitted to this.

Can the fake oil pressure gauge be retrofitted with a real, working gauge?

Miata FAQ
Yes, but it isn't quite as easy as the '94 - '97 retrofit. See the full writeup in the Garage section. Many '99 owners have had trouble with their cruise control. Basically, after setting the speed, the car refuses to hold the setting, sometimes accelerating as much as 15mph over the set speed. You will need a replacement cruise control processor. See your dealer for the warranty work. We've just started hearing about this from a number of sources. See similar questions...

Can I install an oil pressure gage or warning light?

KLR650 FAQ
Because the crank rides on roller bearings rather than hydraulic ones, the KLR has a low pressure spec: 11-21 psi at 90F and 4000 rpm. The ultimate info on adding an oil pressure sensor can be found in post # 61914 of the DSN_KLR archives. In short, the best way to add a pressure port is probably by stacking a second banjo fitting on one of the camshaft feeds. Beware that adding a tap may add a failure point. See similar questions...

What should my oil pressure be?

The CJ2A Owner's Pages - 1947
Standard gauge reading is approximately 35 at 30 miles per hour and 10 at idle speed. See the General Lubrication Page. The line coming out of the tank is solid but quickly turns into standard gas line hose. It runs inside the frame and is close to the exhaust pipe. I haven't caught fire yet. See similar questions...

How do I install the batteries in my Omron Blood Pressure Monitor?

Omron Blood Pressure Monitors FAQ - BP Montior Questions
Slide the battery cover off in the direction of the arrow shown on the cover. Install the batteries making sure the positive and negative polarities match the polarities shown in the battery compartment. Replace the battery cover. When you need to replace the batteries in your unit, remove and replace all of the batteries at the same time. We always recommend long-life alkaline batteries for best performance. My oil pressure warning light is on. What should I do?

SSRSOUNY - Consumer Section - Frequently Asked Questions
Don't ignore it. An oil pressure warning light (or low gauge reading) means one of two things: either your engine has dangerously low oil pressure (for a variety of reasons which we'll get to in a minute), or the oil pressure sending unit that triggers the warning light (or operates your gauge) has failed. First, do not keep driving if the oil warning light is on or your oil pressure gauge has dropped. Stop the engine, let it sit for a few minutes, then check the oil level. See similar questions...

How do I install a boost gauge?

Nissan Silvia/200SX/240SX/Gazelle Frequently Asked Questions...
Why don't Nissan fit one to cars outside Japan? Beats me, but if you want to do it yourself, it's not that hard. The first part is find a gauge that you like (I used a 46mm HKS unit). Unfortunately the instructions were all in Japanese and the most useful bit was this picture. Dean Evans from "Fast Fours" came to my rescue. You need to insert a T-piece into the pipe that goes from the inlet manifold to the fuel pressure regulator. Simple eh? You try finding it.. See similar questions...

Can Reverend install my string gauge?

Reverend FAQ

Stage King series guitars come with the string gauge specified in the product description only. See similar questions...

Why don't you put a pressure gauge on the machine to tell me how much pressure is against the reel?

Hogg & Davis : Facility
There is no practical way to measure the pressure between the drive rollers and the reel flanges. A pressure gauge on the power unit cylinder is susceptible to false readings and therefore can become a safety problem. Any readings at the cylinder or extrapolations of such readings would vary from pull to pull depending on the cleanliness of the slide rails, the lubrication to the rails, the internal integrity of the cylinder and other factors that make it totally unreliable. Why do you recommend a water pressure gauge with a jack plate?

Bob's Machine Shop - Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend a water pressure gauge on every boat with or with out a jack plate. A water pressure gauge monitors your water pressure to assure that you are getting adequate water pressure to your motor. See similar questions...

What are the advantages of using an Extorr over just a total pressure gauge?

Residual Gas Analyzer FAQ
Most vacuum systems are outfitted with a total pressure measurement device such as an ion gauge, Penning gauge or Pirani gauge. An Extorr on a vacuum system is able to measure pressures from atmosphere to Ultra High Vacuum with its built-in Pirani and Ion gauge. All of these gauges will indicate how much total gas remains in the vacuum system. When the required level of vacuum can not be reached, other total pressure gauges can give no further information as to why. See similar questions...

Should there be a pressure gauge in the building near the main valve?

Con Edison: steam operations - knowledge center: faqs
There is no code requirement for gauges; however, it is helpful to have a pressure gauge installed on each side of pressure reducing valves. Installing one on the steam station or near the main valve also is a good practice. See similar questions...

What's my pressure?

DripWorks Frequently Asked Questions
Pressure is the amount of force pushing the flow of water. It's measured in pounds per square inch (PSI) and can be easily measured with a low cost pressure gauge. Knowing your starting pressure helps determine whether or not you need a pressure regulator, but it's not essential in a simple backyard system. Regular household pressure is often around 50 PSI. What is normal oil pressure?

FAQ
Typical oil pressure range for engines running at rated speed and operating temperature with SAE 10w30 or 15w40 oil is: (207 to 310 kpa) 30-45 psi for 3176B, C-10, C-12, 40-88 for 3406E. See similar questions...

Can the filter cause low oil pressure?

Filter Council
While some pressure drop across the filter is normal, the oil filter is not capable of regulating the lube system pressure. Low oil pressure is generally the result of another malfunction in the engine such as the oil pump losing its prime or the pressure-regulating valve not functioning properly. Why is my oil pressure way above 70 P.S.I.?

Triumph Rotary Oil Pumps FAQ
The relief valve is faulty, it may be stuck, the piston in the relief valve may be letting oil into the back of the valve and hydrolicing it shut. If you drilled more holes in the valve check that no burrs are left in the piston bore. See similar questions...

Where should my oil pressure be at when cold? warm? idling?

Engine
When your car is cold, the oil is thicker. Normally this means when you first start your car the oil pressure will be 5 bar at idle. After warming up the car (typically, it takes approximately twice as long for the oil to reach operating range as your coolant does) it should drop to between 2 and 3 bar at idle. You don't need to worry unless it drops to or below 1 bar. If the oil pressure sender fails, typically the oil pressure will peg at 5 bar as soon as you turn the key to the on position. Is it oil pressure or rpm that restores duration?

Frequently Asked Questions
Rpm. Quite simply, at lower rpm Rhoads Lifters have more time to leak down. As the rpm increases they have less time to leak down and at approximately 3500-4000 rpm virtually full lift and duration are restored. See similar questions...
