To convert a file to PDF you: Can either buy the Adobe Acrobat Program or, for a small fee, convert your files online at Adobe.com. Provide 1 page of your book at a time, do not give us spreads.

In order to upload your phone bill to Onesuite, the file must be PDF or JPG format. To convert your files to PDF, you can use a free tool called PDFCreator, available from http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/. After you've installed the software, it installs a "virtual printer" to your system called PDFCreator.

Adobe Acrobat can be used to convert any document to Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). In most programs, you can use the "Print" command and choose "Adobe PDF" as the printer to use. This does not print out the document, but rather causes it to be converted into a PDF. There is a related program called "Acrobat Distiller" which can make more complex PDFs such as encrypted PDFs. Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Distiller are installed on all lab computers.

All possible scanning settings can be defined by the following menu selection [Documents]/[Scan]/[Scanning settings].

On the ground floor of the HKU Main Library, there are several PCs and one Macintosh installed with Adobe Acrobat version 5, which will convert from several different file types into PDF. Instructions for using Acrobat are on, "How to Create an ETD"

In the Open Dialog box Choose All Files (*.*) from the Files of Type (Windows) or Show (Mac) pull-down menu.

PDF documents (Portable Document Format) can be opened across a wider range of platforms and are not dependent upon the user having MS Word installed for instance. After you have uploaded your file, if it is one of the formats we can convert to PDF, you will be offered the option to create a PDF. It is a one click process.

In order for the product to show up, you will need to login to webcentral click "Change" on "Home", then go "Web Page Options" and hit "Save". This should update your navigation and should show your new category/ product.

Usually there is someone in the School who knows how to do this and may be able to help you, perhaps using Adobe Acrobat. For PC users, download the free application PDFCreator from http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ and install it. Open your file in Word (or whatever other package you used) and select Print. You will see an extra 'printer' in the name box at the top of the print dialog called PDFCreator. Select it and click Print, following the instructions on the screen.

It is often convenient to convert reports into PDF format for distribution to other users who do not have the Reporter software. This functionality is not built-in to Reporter, however if you have Adobe Acrobat installed you can easily create a PDF file from Reporter: If you don't have the full version of Adobe Acrobat you can download a program called PrimoPDF from the following website: http://www.primopdf.com/.

Yes. pdf2cad converts to .dxf, the industry-standard CAD exchange format. You can open a DXF file in AutoCAD for viewing and editing. When you save it, you can do so in AutoCAD's native DWG file format. This will also make the file size a lot smaller compared to the DXF version, which as an exchange format can become quite large.
