Use ONLY what it says in your owner's manual to use. Many Chrysler transmissions are NOT compatible with standard fluid! ATF+4 is usually the best one to use with automatic transmissions before 2001, ATF+5 after. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT and very misunderstood issue. The TR-3550 5sp uses the GM Synchromesh. The T56 and 3650 use Dexron III ATF, and the Viper T56 should use Castrol Syntorque. See the service manual for more details about your transmission.

Different transmissions require different types of transmission fluid. A:If you use a transverse engined car at a track for speed events (as opposed to a parking lot autocross), you may actually be in a corner long enough to slosh oil clean away from the pickup, with possible bad results (please don't ask how I know). The real solution is to get a baffled oil pan, but synthetic oils will do better than dino oils in this situation. far as I know, most/all water cooled VW transmissions require gear fluid with an API rating of GL-4 (MIL-2105).

We use glycerin, FDA approved. This food additive is found in many recipes, the most common being frosting (or icing) on cakes. It is also used in some skin creams, makeup and lipstick. Others use animal-based Glycerin or water combinations.

Check fluid level with the engine running (except Honda), the transmission in "Park" (except Chrysler products which should be in neutral with the emergency brake applied), and with the engine at operating temperature. Remove the dipstick and wipe clean. Fully insert the stick and remove. Check both sides of the stick to determine correct reading. Repeat the process. The reason you have to check both sides of the dipstick is that circulating fluid can have surface waves.

Changing your transmission fluid regularly will extend the life of your transmission. On most transmissions, there is also a filter that needs to be changed at the same time. No transmission outside the range should have an improperly cut transmission case groove. However, it is possible for almost any part in a car to fail. Use UTP (unshielded twisted pair) CAT 5 24 AWG (or over) to have the best transmission quality performance. To use STP (shielded twisted pair) cable, the shielded would cause internal signal interference, so the transmission range would be shorter ( 1.5KM--- >0.8KM) than UTP cable. Un-twisted wire not to be recommended, which easy have interference and range would be shorter.

Tufoil is too slippery to use in automatic transmissions. The oils in them need to be a bit grabby or the clutches won't work properly. In manual transmissions, about one part Tufoil in ten parts high-grade transmission oil will make them run cooler and shift smoother.
