Unscrew the flint spring from the bottom of the inside unit using a small screwdriver or a thin coin (watch the spring so it doesn't fly away). Turning the inside unit right side up again, remove the remaining piece of flint (if any) by gently tapping the inside unit on a hard surface. Place new Zippo flint in the long flint tube from which you removed the spring (the spring has a brass tip on the end which many people believe is a flint - it is not). Replace the flint spring and screw it in. See similar questions...

On recent models there will be a pinched hole in the felt. If so, simply insert the fluid can into the hole and squirt the fluid right into the packing material in the fuel chamber. Three or four generous squirts will be enough usually. If you don't have the refill hole, lift the corner of the felt pad on the bottom of the insert to reveal the packing material in the fuel chamber. Saturate the packing with Zippo lighter fluid. Fill slowly, taking care to never overfill. See similar questions...

We suggest that you use only genuine Zippo fluid, flints and wicks for optimal performance, since they are specially formulated to work in the Zippo lighters. When do I change the wick filter in my cool mist humidifier?

GE :: Housewares - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Through normal use, water-borne minerals and sediment become trapped in a wick filter. The harder the water in your area, the greater the amount of minerals in the water, and more often you will have to replace the filter. We recommend you change your filter every 4-8 weeks or when the filter turns color. When you are not using your humidifier for an extended period of time, dispose of your filter and put a fresh one in when you begin using your humidifier again. See similar questions...

Should I trim the wick?

Mudhouse Candle Co.
Do not trim wick(s) before burning for the first time. Trim mushrooms that develop, but keep wick(s) 1/2" long so candle burns properly. Soy wax does require a much longer wick than other waxes so if it's trimmed too short the wick could drown out. Please follow the instructions found on the bottom of each jar, tin, or other packaging. See similar questions...

For how long does the wick burn?

Salza Fire Gear
This depends very much on which prop it is, which fuel you use, and how you use the prop. Our regular sized poi wicks has a burn time of at least 4-5 minutes with good flames, the larger props considerably longer. A big factor is the shape of the wick: A larger surface area and thus more exposed wick gives bigger and more dense flames, for example the knotted rope wicks we make. A larger volume can hold more fuel, so the more unexposed wick there is, the longer it'll burn. See similar questions...

If the wax is not liquified, carefully "dig" out some wax from around the wick. Scented Specialties' premium wax blend is soft enough that you can use a spoon. See similar questions...

What is that black lump on the end of the wick?

FAQs
It's a clump of carbon called a "mushroom" which forms when the wick hasn't been properly trimmed. Simply stated, your candle is burning too fast to completely combust the fuel (wax) being fed thru the wick. Keep your wick trimmed to 1/4th inch and you'll prevent mushrooms.
