The i-Nav plug-in and associated components enable the resolution and display of IDN addresses in Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser, Outlook Express and Outlook applications. If for whatever reason uninstalling i-Nav is not successful, we have created a standalone uninstall program that will completely remove i-Nav from your system.

The i-Nav plug-in has an auto-update feature that will check for any newer version every 24 hours. Should there be a newer version, the software will be automatically updated without you having to worry about it. Note that users with personal firewalls may see a request being made from "naviclient.exe" or just "NAVIClient". This is i-Nav's auto-update program and in order to insure that the software gets updated you need to allow this request to pass through.

i-Nav supports all gTLDs and all ccTLDs as specified by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) that adhere to the IDNA standard.

NavTech does supply maps to both Volkswagen for use in the Touareg's GPS and Garmin for use in their GPS units. However, it appears that NavTech has different sets of maps for different customers. The maps that NavTech supplies to Garmin are much richer than those supplied to Volkswagen. Garmin's CitySelect maps are comprehensive insofar as they include every public roadway and street in the United States. The Touareg's maps lack many streets a nd points of interest in non-metropolitan areas.

The Nav system's manuals were not available at the initial launch of the Touareg. Volkswagen has subsequently made these available. Your dealer should be able to obtain this manual for you

this point, Volkswagen has indicated that this button has no useful function, and has not committed to ever providing an adapter that will allow owners to attach auxiliary audio devices to the NAV system. Some Touareg owners have reported that there are third party interfaces available to allow owners to attach auxiliary audio and video input to the Nav system, which would be activated with this button. One of these adapters appears to be available for pur chase in Germany.

The consensus seems to be running about 50 to 1 that it does suck, but there are a few folks out there who think very highly of the NAV system. When people say that the "NAV system sucks", they aren't saying that it is non-functional or that it cannot be used to navigate. In fact, even the most vocal opponents of the NAV system probably do use it on a regular basis.

Plug-ins are software modules which enhance your browser's capabilities. The plug-ins needed on this site allow your browser to display different types of audio or video content.

Note that if you simply want to disable the plug-in for a while, you can do this by unticking the "Enable SpamBayes" box on the front page of the "Manager" dialog. If you installed the plug-in from source, then you simply need to re-run the "addin.py" script, with the parameter "--unregister", and then delete the toolbar in Outlook.

The chances are very good that your city itself does appear in the NAV system's map data. However, unless you live in the city limits of a metropolitan area, there is a significant chance that the street coverage for your area is not comprehensive. This contrasts with other GPS navigation systems, such as the Garmin Street Pilot line that includes every public road, (and many private roads) in the US as of the date of the map data.

Press the hard button on the Navigation system that resembles a musical note. A screen will appear that allows you to adjust the audio output of the system. One of the options within this screen is ?Volumes?. Pressing this button will take you to a screen in which you can adjust the Nav system's volume, including muting the voice guidance entirely. Additionally, the NAV system volume can be adjusted any time the system is speaking by adjusting the volume with the regular volume knob.
