Why won't my orchids (other than Phalaenopsis) rebloom?
Orchid FAQThis may be a different matter with each orchid, however the most common causes are under watering - there are actually very few orchids that need to dry out between waterings. Most like to remain consistently, evenly moist. Second most common reason is not enough light, and the third is not enough fertilizer or fertilizer applied incorrectly (generally, too strong a solution). There's an equation the orchids use: Light + Fertilizer = Flowers.
And, why won't my Phalaenopsis rebloom?
Orchid FAQPhalaenopsis bloom in response to changes in day length, which is why we see many plants, even young ones, blooming in late winter through the spring as the days get longer. However, they also will bloom in response to lowered temperature, with nights in the upper 50s ideal to persuade them. The corollary is that if they have nights that never drop below 68 degrees F they will not bloom. See similar questions...
What do I do when my phalaenopsis stops blooming?
Orchid Care TipsIf your plant has healthy, with thick, green leaves that have not become wrinkled or drooping, cut the old flower stem up high, just above a "node" and just below the lowest bloom. The plant will frequently send out a new flowering branch at that location. If your plant has thin, wilted leaves, or if the plant is small, with only 3-to-4-inch-long leaves, it is best to cut the flower stem all the way down, so that the plant does not weaken itself by blooming again right away. Why did the buds fall off my Phalaenopsis?
Frequently Asqued Orchid Questions - Orchid FAQThis is known as "bud drop," and is a very common occurrence not only to Phalaenopsis but many other orchid genus/species as well. The main causes of bud drop is temperature fluctuation - rapid changes in the temperature around the orchid (like opening and closing a door when it is a lot colder or hotter outside than inside). The other possible reason is pollution. Smoking around your orchid is the #1 cause of pollution in a house. See similar questions...
I am growing my phalaenopsis orchid in the house but they never bloom. What can I do?
Orchid Care TipsThe most common reason for any orchid not to bloom is insufficient light. Move your phalaenopsis plants to a window where they will receive strong, but indirect light (near a south-facing window is ideal). You might also try lighting your plants with a fluorescent light fixture placed about 1-2 feet above the foliage. Give up to 12 hours of supplemental light per day. Phalaenopsis will also develop flower spikes in response to a cool period of about four weeks with night temperatures of 55F. See similar questions...

I have a baby plant growing on my Phalaenopsis stem, what should I do with it?
Burnham Nurseries - Orchids - FAQ'sThis is known as a keiki, and often occurs with plants grown in the home. It usually happens purely by accident and is a fun way of obtaining another little plant from your existing orchid. Let the keiki grow until it has several leaves and a good few roots, then it is strong enough to survive on its own. Simply cut the flower stem just under where the plant sprouted from so as not to damage it and pot up into a small pot with the usual bark. See similar questions...

Microcomputing ServicesIt's useful to save everything. And save often. You never know when the computer might lock up or the power might go out. If the products were optimized for Phalaenopsis treatment, will they work on other orchids?
Plant Hormones CanadaYes, we have many reports of successful application to plants other than Phalaenopsis. Many of these suggestions are covered in a sheet of "cultural instructions" supplied with each order, but among the most successful are: breaking of dormancy of such plants as Cycnoches or Catesetums when they have apparently failed to come back into growth (this has also been successful with other plants such as caudex succulents); and producing multiple flowers on papilio spikes, equitants, and dendrobiums. I have some leaves growing on my Phalaenopsis flower spike. What should I do?
Orchid FAQPhalaenopsis will sometimes produce keikis (off shoots) on the flower spikes. If you let them grow they will produce roots. When the roots are about two inches long, cut the spike near the keiki and plant your new plant in fine bark or other suitable media for seedlings. This is the fastest way to get a new plant from a Phalaenopsis (Photos). See similar questions...
Where do I cut my Phalaenopsis stem to make new flowers?
Burnham Nurseries - Orchids - FAQ'sLook along the length of the flower stem and you will see small ‘eyes’, each of these is capable of branching out and producing more buds. I have a tiny, white, fluffy bug on my phalaenopsis, how can I get rid of it?
Burnham Nurseries - Orchids - FAQ'sThis is known as mealybug and is easily killed by dabbing it with a little methylated spirits. This will not harm the orchid so fell free to allow it to run into nooks and crannies where the mealybugs may be hiding. They are particularly well camouflaged on the pure white phalaenopsis flowers and if they get too out of control then it is easiest to just dispose of the flowers, clean the plant and it will soon reflower.
