People often ask what is the difference between Mentoring and Consulting? In the old days you would mentor under a master to learn the secrets of his trade. This would often take many years and would come after a long apprenticeship. In the trading world you can establish a mentoring relationship for as little as a week with one of our online mentoring seminars or as long as a several years with one on one mentoring. During this time you will learn what the more experienced trader can teach you.

Absolutely not, each of these professional services have its place in a person's professional and personal life when it meets the individual's specific needs.

Although mentors may provide "advice" to students, they are not advisors (nor are they counselors). You might find yourself discussing classes and majors with your mentees, but advisement will still be done the way it always has been done. Don't worry: You are NOT volunteering to do advisement by becoming a mentor.

The frequency and duration of one-to-one mentoring sessions will depend on your needs and are matters for your choice in each case. We will make clear recommendations. You are not required to commit yourself to any number of sessions or to any length of session, and may stop the process at any point without penalty. Action research is similar to some forms of consulting practice, which are directed towards bringing about change in an organization. However, action research usually involves a search for understanding of the situation and places greater overt emphasis on critical reflection as the basis for action.

Many people mistakenly assume that the coaching process and the consulting process are, at least similar, if not the same. Yet, the two processes are so VERY DIFFERENT. It is vital that you understand the differences so that you will be able to maximize the results you attain from either process. The processes are so different, that a person will get poor results, if any, from either process, if mistakenly treated as the other.
