Zoning is the breaking up of one large system into smaller parts or zones. This is necessary when your system's water requirements exceed your available flow. All of Rutherford County is zoned R-15 unless the property owner has requested and been approved for another zoning through the Planning Commission.

All of the unincorporated areas (Townships) in Racine County come under this office's general zoning jurisdiction. Additional jurisdiction extends to shoreland and/or floodplain areas of the unincorporated areas in the County. Shoreland areas include lands within 1,000 feet of a navigable lake, pond or flowage and/or within 300 feet of a river or stream or to the landward side of its floodplain, whichever distance is greater. County zoning jurisdiction does not extend to cities or villages.
