We use a beautiful canvas sourced from the United States. It is a 100% acid free matte cotton canvas. It is smooth, bright white and offers excellent reproduction for both photographs and fine art. Our canvas produces exceptionally dense black and vibrant colours, is water resistant and is used by thousands of artists around the world. It is significantly heavier than the canvas being used by many of our competitors.

Waste canvas usually has a blue thread running through the weave of the canvas at periodic intervals. It is used to add cross-stitch designs to sweat shirts, clothes, towels and lots more only limited by your imagination. We frequently use it on our stamped poly/cotton fabric to add a baby's name, birth date and weight to a birth announcement or sampler. After all stitching is complete; baste the waste canvas on the fabric being sure that it is centered where you will stitch your design/letters.

Very gradually, the inside of the tipi, above the fire, will get dark as the fabric absorbs the pigments from the smoke. However, the tannic acid and oils in the smoke has a tendency to "tan" and "season" the cover and make it more waterproof and more resistant to deterioration. The Indians would usually build a fire with green wood in a new "skin" tipi to saturate the tipi surface with smoke.

You can use fiberglass instead of the provided polyester skin, but we don't recommend it. While fiberglass requires less maintenance, it is actually more fragile than the skin that comes with the kit. The polyester skin will flex when it comes in contact with another object, whereas the fiberglass may crack and require extensive repair at home. If the polyester skin does get a hole in it, it is easy to do a field fix and continue on your way.

We use pigmented inks which provide not only better display permanence than the dye-based inks you get in most inkjet printers, but also have better water-fastness and humidity-fastness.

Canvas only means it is not stretched over a frame - we deliver it rolled and you arrange stretching with your local framer. "Canvas Wrapped" means we deliver it, ready to hang, stretched around a 4cm (2inch) thick wooden frame, strung and taped at the back so dust doesn't get in the crack between the canvas and the frame. For canvas prints we use BullDog Coating as a protective finish. This is a solvent borne vinyl elastomer clear coat. While the Epson UltraChrome K3? Inks are already UV resistant inks, the coating has some additional UV buffers as well and when applied to the print, the finish can further protect it from scratching, finger prints, or smudging.

Behind the scenes the Canvas creates the rendering tree and does a first rendering after running 'onload' scripts. Only after this first rendering does the UpdateManger become available.
