Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve is not a state park. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, managed by the Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve Association, Inc. in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. The Preserve is a member-supported organization, and relies on revenue from memberships, admission fees, plant sales and our Shop to continue providing high-quality programs and services, and to protect the Pennsylvania native plants with which we are entrusted.

Yes, as of May 2007. The Park had been privately owned and operated for over 100 years. As a new State Park, we are slowly making the transition into being state-owned. We are still privately operated so you will not yet find all the offerings found at other State Parks. We have things here that you cannot find at other State Parks, so it is a fair trade off.

We have the opportunity to bring a first-class hotel to Alabama, attracting larger convention groups back to Alabama's Gulf Coast that are currently going to Gulf destinations in other states. The new facility will be a great adjunct to the crown jewel of the State Park system and an economic engine for our State and the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area. The project also allows Auburn University to advance and expand student learning opportunities through Gulf State Park and DCNR programs.

The Oklahoma City National Memorial is an affiliated site of the National Park System, and is privately owned and administered by the Oklahoma City National Memorial Foundation. The National Park Service provides the interpretive services on the OUTDOOR SYMBOLIC MEMORIAL through a cooperative agreement with the Foundation.

Many people are surprised to learn that the Ozark National Scenic Riverways is a national park, just like Yellowstone or Gettysburg. Six (6) parks have inns that can provide overnight accommodations along with restaurants, catering operations and conference centers that are equipped to handle weddings, both indoors and outdoors. Several parks do not have an inn or a restaurant, but do have meeting rooms. These meeting rooms can handle small indoor weddings.

Collection of deadwood on the ground for firewood is allowed. Most state parks offer firewood for sale.

Pets are allowed as long as they are leashed at all times. Please review our policy on pets here Section 110.30. Pets are not allowed in campground cabins, however.

There is on-site self parking available, but we suggest that you take advantage of the special valet parking service at the main entrance which will speed your visit. There is an attendant there who will assist you when you arrive.

The maximum length of stay is 14 consecutive days except where other limits have been established by the park manager; some parks offer weekly/monthly/seasonal rates. Check with the reservation agent when making reservations.
