If CAP_FEEDERENABLED is not supported or it is but it cannot be set to true then it is safe to assume the scanner is a flatbed-only device (at least, this is the functionality that can be accessed from its TWAIN Data Source). If CAP_FEEDERENABLED is supported and can be set to true then the scanner is equipped with a feeder. If CAP_AUTOFEED is supported and can be set to true then the feeder is an automatic document feeder (ADF).

You need some way of getting a JPEG or GIF file (an image file) onto your computer. The image file can be on your desktop, your hard drive, a floppy, ZIP disk, CD, or any other "drive". The file can come from a scanner, digital camera, video camera, a photo CD or disk (from your photo processor), from an email (if you have a friend who can send you your images), or from a website.

Photo scanning can be done at copy and print shops and film can be developed and placed on CDs at most film processing centers. These photos can then be emailed to us. Pictures can also be sent to us via conventional mail and we will scan them in for you. There will be a separate fee for scanning and touch-ups of print photos. We strongly advise you to send us copies of photos and not the originals. However, if you would like your photos returned, please specify that clearly.

Uniden was the first to release a commercially available digital scanner in January, 2003. The handheld BC250D and base/mobile BC785D allow for 3600 baud APCO P25 digital signals to be received, trunk-tracked and listened to. These scanners will also allow 9600 baud APCO P25 systems to be listened to but they are not able to trunk-track them. AOR is also working on an external decoding box to handle digital formats as well but there is very little known about it at this time.

In order to achieve clear images, appropriate color balance, and the smallest possible file sizes, our graphics department can edit your digital images. Yes, provided that your scanner or digital still image camera has a TWAIN driver. The vOICe can acquire and sonify images from most TWAIN compliant devices via the File menu, Acquire and Sonify option. In case you have more than one TWAIN device, you can select the one that you want to use from the Drivers menu. For best results with line drawings, plots and graphs, use the 1-bit (black and white) scan mode with your scanner software.

Yes, Print Studio will work with any TWAIN or WIA compliant digital camera, webcam, or scanner. Images can be inserted directly into a database or onto an ID card to streamline the ID card creation process. Note: Different cameras and scanners have different capabilities. Some may be able to snap pictures directly from the Acquire Image dialog, while others may require that the picture be taken before the device is connected to the PC.

Some cameras are designed for this, so you should check your manual. It's rare to find this feature in high quality digital cameras, but lower quality multifunction cameras with CMOS sensors sometimes offer this. See, for example, AipTek. If your camera doesn't already support some webcam features, you may still be able to do it if you have a video capture card (or USB device) of some kind, by connecting the video out from your camera to the video in on your PC.

The good news is, unless you are shooting close-up pictures of jewelry, you don't need an expensive camera to take good product shots. If you are shooting pictures for use on websites and not for print, you can get a good camera for less than $200. The quality of your images is going to depend much less on the sophistication of your camera and much more on your lighting and how well you operate the camera.
