Newport on the Levee does not have an ice skating rink this year, but there are many other options for your entertainment including GameWorks, the Aquarium, AMC Newport 20 movie theaters, many restaurants and unique shopping.

Apart from our own club and grade competitions, there are numerous bigger figure skating competitions held at The Ice Station and around South Africa and the rest of the World. To be eligible to compete in these bigger competitions and qualifying medal tests you will need to be a member of the South African Figure Skating Association and have private lessons with a professional coach. These coaches are listed on The Ice Station's website or you can enquire at the Skate Shop.

Tony and a former assistant both played college hockey (the latter having spent 2 years on the strength and conditioning staff of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and then went on to a successful position in the NHL). Based upon our experience, we feel that skating in a straight line on a treadmill does not mimic the movements inherent in a sport as multidirectional as hockey.

The construction of a year-round ice skating facility will enable children and adults to learn and enjoy the sport of ice-skating. The rink will provide a facility for the youth and adult hockey leagues, as well as provide the Nantucket Public Schools with a facility to conduct their physical education programs and junior and varsity level hockey programs for both boys and girls.

Skates and skating are complimentary on the ships with ice rinks. All skates are unisex. We offer figure and hockey style skates in adult sizes only. Skates are very similar to regular rental boots rented at most ice rinks.

We are not able to be involved in our tenants’ hiring schedules and thus we are usually not aware when they are hiring until they contact us to place those listings on their tenant page of the website. Your best option will be to contact each tenant you are interest in working for (maybe pick a day to come out and drop by to fill out applications) and then follow-up with phone calls every few weeks to see if there are positions that have opened.

I always put competition skating dresses as first priority and testing skating dresses second. Practice skating dresses are made as time allows. Once a due date is determined, I never miss a deadline. Please note that dresses that are needed in less then 4 weeks require a rush fee.

NONE, our frozen drink rental machines are so easy to use. Just pour in the frozen drink mix and the machine does the rest! No ice required. You just provide the power, water and alcohol - if desired!

Slope is the ratio between horizontal and vertical distance from the top of the levee to the toe. For example, if for every 2 feet of horizontal distance the levee is 1 foot lower, then the slope is 2 to 1.

The technical term for this is "waterproofing shingle underlayment." This is a self-sticking material that goes directly onto the wooden "deck" of the roof. It should be placed, at the minimum, on the bottom of the roof, near any gutters, as well as under any valley systems installed on the roof.

Hockey at Prince William is played September through June with the seasons divided into two blocks, Winter (September-March) and Spring (April-June). Travel ice hockey seasons typically run from September through March, with Spring House ice hockey and Summer House ice sessions following. The house season runs October until early March. Mini-Mites have 2 ten week sessions (end of Sept until December and then December until early March).

Music and entertainment are an important part of the experience at Newport on the Levee. We do have bands perform on various nights throughout the year, particularly throughout the weekends from April through October. Please see our Event Policies for information on booking your band at the Levee.

By far the best way to break-in new boots is to skate in them. First, start by spending a session or two just stroking forward, stroking backward and doing simple spinning. When the boots feel comfortable, add the basic jumps you can land consistently. You may find that when the boots are new, you may have to relace the boots during the session to allow the lace to stretch, leather stretching and foam tongues compression.
