The Woodcock-Johnson Psycho-Educational Battery-Revised (WJ-R) provides a normed set of tests for measuring cognitive abilities and academic achievement. In the CDS-I and CDS-II, we selected three subtests as a measure of reading and match achievement: the Letter-Word, the Passage Comprehension, and the Applied Problems tests (the Calculation test was additionally administered in CDS-I.

The child's other test scores are extremely high or low for grade level or they do not reflect true performance. The child is very young, his attention wanders, is easily distracted or he has trouble with timed tests. The parents feel the need for outside input regarding their child's achievement level and/or curriculum choices. The child appears to be struggling in certain areas and a more thorough evaluation for learning disabilities is desired.

The Woodcock-Johnson Revised (WJ-R) tests of achievement have standardized administrative and scoring protocols. The tests are designed to provide a normative score that shows the CDS target child's reading and match abilities in comparison to national average for the child's age. The normed scores are constructed based on the child's raw score on the test (essentially the number of correct items completed) and the child's age to the nearest month.

One significant difference between the WJ III and bubble type tests is the range of difficulty of test items used and the generation of Grade Equivalency (GE) scores. Multiple choice, grade specific tests (like the IOWA and CAT) are composed of items within a limited range of difficulty. WJ III administrators give students questions up to any grade level that they can accomplish correctly within certain ranges. Therefore, the WJ III GE score better reflects what the student can accomplish.

Iowa test score reports give more categories than the WJIII basic achievement package for understanding a student's academic performance. Science, Social Studies and sources of information scores are given in Iowa reports. Iowa tests can be administered in the students familiar environment by a parent or someone with previous standardized testing experience or who has a bachelors degree.

Both of these tests are top-rated, nationally standardized tests. Both of them evaluate thinking skills, provide thorough results, and are designed to accomplish the same purposes. Neither is more "difficult" than the other. Whichever test you choose, there are advantages to using the same test from year to year or at least 2 years in a row. Iowa permits a wider grade range of students to be tested at the same time.

The Iowa Tests are an example of achievement tests. These are tests that measure what a student has learned over a certain period of time. The Cognitive Abilities Test is an example of an ability test. It is used to measure a student's potential in reasoning and problem solving. These tests are designed to work together and complement each other.

Achievement tests are generally either norm-referenced or criterion-referenced. Norm-referenced means the scores are generated by how the student compares with a national sample; criterion-referenced scores represent how well the student understands a particular learning strand. BASI is both a norm-referenced and criterion-referenced achievement test. A User's Guide Addendum includes step-by-step instructions for editing customized curriculum developed in C-router.

Clarifications to the Standard, with the proviso that proposals will be considered under this item that clarify the language of the Standard to reflect the original intent of the TC, without making a substantive technical change. Note the c & d were requested by the ISO FastTrack process. The committee is not obligated to consider proposals falling outside this agenda without first voting to extend it. If the test was administered by your school and your scores are reported with national percentiles, you may submit your test scores. Otherwise, see question 21 following.

If you've taken an achievement test in the last three years, include your latest scores with your application. If you have never taken an achievement test, or have not taken one in the last three years, have your school counselor or other representative sign the appropriate line in part V on page 2 of the application. You should not delay in submitting your child's application, as we evaluate complete applications in the order they are received. If we need newer records we will contact you.

As Comprehensive Health Care Aide is a Special Selection program, applicants are required to write the Canadian Adult Achievement test. After you have applied to the program, the college will contact you with a date, time and place to write the test. This is generally done at an orientation session where the program will be delivered.

No, this is not the primary purpose of an achievement test. Achievement test scores can be applied as indicators of possible areas of academic weakness. Couple the test results with your own (or a previous teacher's) observations to determine how your student handled the curriculum level. Though they are helpful tools, test results should never be used as the sole determiner for any educational decision.
