The subject was not in focus, the camera was moving at the time of the exposure, the image was captured at too low a resolution. Out of focus images are by far the biggest problem with most of the images we see on the internet, we strongly urge you to learn to focus your camera. It will probably require you to dig out and spend some time with your camera's user manual.

We are aware that some viewers, especially those using aol, may find the image to be distorted or blurry at times. This is an issue with aol that we have been unable to resolve. Blurry images are often the result of movement during image capture. Either the camera was not held still ? a phenomenon called "camera shake" ? or the subject was moving and the camera did not fire with a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the action.

Stenciled designs that are not crisp usually mean that you are overloading your brush. Loading your brush with too much paint is by far the most common mistake that is made by both beginners and pros. Dip the tips of the bristles of your brush into the paint. Using a paper towel remove most of the paint from the brush by swirling the brush into the paper towel.

It is possible you have the Flash Mode set to one of the Slow Sync modes (lighting bolt with the word Slow). Slow synchronization flash sets a slow shutter speed for the background exposure and fires the flash for the subject exposure. Since the shutter speed is slow, your subject should be still and the camera should be on a tripod otherwise blur can result.

Make sure the images you upload are large enough resolution. At least 550 pixels along the longest dimension. Also, make sure your computer is not running any kind of "accelerator" programs. These programs are most common with aol and earthlink and "speed up" your download speed by reducing image quality.

If you're using America Online, you probably have image compression turned on. Although this makes the photos download faster, it drastically reduces their quality. Consult the America Online instructions and turn off image compression to see the photos at full sharpness. (If these words look blurry also, consider buying a new monitor or consulting an eye doctor.)

PTMac uses reduced size images for the warped image preview and in the panorama editor window. The scale of the thumbnail images had to be reduced to gain acceptable performance on older computers. You can change the scale of images used for the editor window via the pop-up in the lower left corner of the editor window. You can choose one of the pre-selected options or enter your preference via the custom setting.

Internet copying. Except for some of the abstracts, I guarantee each and every one of my prints to be as clear and vivid as if you were looking through a window! At my shows, one of the most frequent questions I'm asked is if my photographs are real, because they appear so perfect. My images are all actual photographs and are not graphically enhanced or manipulated in any way. What you see is exactly what I saw when I took the picture.

Depending on the size of the original document, some of the thumbnails are less than 1% of the size of the original. This extreme condensation of information is difficult to do with perfect clarity. The role of the thumbnail is to help you figure out if a particular map is the one you are looking for.

Unless your camera is cheap junk, it will have a focus ring around the lens. Try turning it (don't turn too hard, or you might break the lens assembly). Also, make sure the lens is clean. Use compressed air to remove dust, and a damp cloth for fingerprints. Be careful not to scratch it!

The thickness lever may be incorrectly set. Make sure that the thickness lever is set to 0 for regular paper and + for envelopes or thicker media. Make sure the paper is not damp. Verify that the printable side of the paper is face up, and check the type of paper being used. EPSON brand paper, which is specifically designed for the Stylus ink jet series of printers, delivers the best printed output. For those media which require a support sheet, you can also try loading one sheet at a time.

One set of satellite images is ingested in reverse. Remapping the image to the normal view detracts from the quality of the image. Why do the geographical lines jump around from image to image? Why is the iceberg south of -78 in the 16:38UTC image, at -78 in the 9:19UTC image, and south -78 again in the 09:49 image? Why does the navigation (map outline) look rock steady, while the surface features don't? I'm not a POES user.

Only one image can be viewed in detail in the Image Workspace using the Insight Browser. The Java Client will allow you to view multiple images, at different scales simultaneously.

Night Scene mode is designed to help you capture better exposures outdoors in low-light conditions. The camera holds the shutter open longer than it would in other situations, allowing more light to reach the CCD. Because the shutter is open longer, it is very important to keep both the camera and the subject still. Camera motion during image capture will result in blurry pictures.
