The eyes have four drains, called puncta, through which tears (which are constantly renewed) exit. These are in the lower and upper corners of the eyelids nearest the nose. For patients whose dry eye symptoms are caused primarily by a deficiency in the water (aqueous) part of their tears, stopping the drains (called punctal occlusion) can sometimes help improve the symptoms. There are two ways to do this: using small plugs, or permanently sealing the openings with cautery.

Punctal plugs can help keep tears on the surface of the eye longer, but cannot increase tear production; RESTASIS® increases tear production in Chronic Dry Eye patients whose tear production is presumed to be suppressed due to ocular inflammation associated with keratoconjunctivitis sicca.

Skin can become irritated after using a pediculicide. This can result in the formation of desquamated epithelial cell plugs (DEC) which people often mistake for nits. This causes many caregivers to overtreat with chemicals thus continuing the cycle. If you are not sure if you are seeing nits, take a suspected nit on a hair shaft to your doctor and have him confirm the diagnosis by looking at the suspected nit under a microscope.

Cautery branding is the use of a more modern tool such as soldering iron-type devices to apply the burn. Some smaller medical cautery units can be used to create very small precise brands.

Most forum members agree that the stock Champions are just as good under most conditions as considerably more expensive plugs, including Bosch Platinums. Some have said that the "performance gains" claimed by some are due only to the use of new plugs, rather than special new plugs. The best oil is synthetic - it provides more protection during cold starts, when most engine wear occurs, and is more durable than standard oils.

First, you'll need anti-seize compound (just a little!), and a spark plug wrench or a socket with at least one extension - six inches is usually a good length - because modern cars often have the spark plugs at the bottom of a tube. Spark plug sockets have a rubber gasket in them which helps to grip the plug, helping it to come out more easily.

Gold plated plugs can actually cause problems. When plugged in to a regular nickel plated socket, the dissimilar metals can create distortion (through a slight diode action). The real benefit of gold plated connectors is that they do not tarnish, but they must be mated with gold sockets.

Installation is simple. Just drill a 1" hole and install the appropriate plug. The IPexterior is used in wood or other solid materials, and requires a minmum of 3/4" material thickness. The IPinterior only requires 1/8" of material thickness. The plugs are designed with a 1/2" square hole at the head which accepts a 1/2" square ratchet drive and a short extension which makes it easy to drive both plugs into position and ready for use.

The bottom plug is 1.5" thick to prevent body contact with the hard top surface of the foundation (box spring).. The top plug fits flush with the top of the mattress so its height depends on the mattress thickness. The plugs are made from foam a little softer than the mattress and covered with the mattress ticking.

A good plug reading can only be accomplished with a clean shut-off pass. No driving or idling, the engine must be shut-off right at the finish line and towed back to the pit area. Do not try to get by with reading only one plug, it’s either all or none. A good light is required, even in the middle of the day and a magnifying glass will help.

One coil has a yellow wire and one has a blue wire (comming from the points). What cyl. fires off which coil.

That may be a matter of preference. Our own test results have proven that the mushroom plugs do a better job of sealing the puncture on the inner wall of most tires.

Diagnostic plugs are located under the dash panel to the left of the steering column. Measure the area to be plugged. Refer to "Measuring for sod" if you need help calculating the square footage. To calculate the number of plugs needed, use the following formula for the appropriate spacing. Plugs placed 18 inches apart should cover in 2 to 4 growing months. Reduced spacing should be used for areas subject to erosion, such as slopes, or when a quicker establishment is desired.

Just did a PNA (Partial nail avulsion) on a 3month pregnant lady and after consulting MIMS, local Pharmacist and the Google thingy. We (the patient and I) decided not to use cautery just in case there is some risk to the fetus.
